- Reposted by Linda MannheimThis day calls on us to do more than reflect; it calls on us to act — to confront antisemitism wherever it exists and to reject all forms of hatred and dehumanization. May the memories of all those lost be a blessing — one that guides us as we build a world where every life is sacred.

- Reposted by Linda MannheimSo keep pushing. Anything short of ICE’s abolition isn’t nearly enough. And I’d say that even ICE’s abolition should only be the start of ending the violence that came to feel “normal” under Trump.
- Reposted by Linda MannheimThe biggest risk in this moment is something sociologists call “symbolic compliance.” That’s when an institution that is violating civil rights gives the public just enough symbolic victories that accountability efforts lose steam before there has been any meaningful change.

- Reposted by Linda MannheimIf it is fascism now it was fascism then but if you were wrong no need to pause to make a special effort to admit your error -- we don't have that much time now, please act right away, get organized, and then tell your followers what you are doing to stop fascism and what they too can do.
- Reposted by Linda MannheimYou have lived long enough to see a French anti-fascist organisation (a traditionally very anti-US milieu) organise a ‘rally in solidarity with the American people’.

- Reposted by Linda MannheimICE took the flower man in Echo Park 40 minutes ago. He’s at this corner every day. I’ve bought flowers from the man and woman here for anniversaries and birthdays. Lemmy loves to smell them whenever we walk by in the mornings. I was just at the street corner 15 minutes before it happened. Fuck.
- Reposted by Linda MannheimThis isn't a crisis we fact-check our way out of, we need to build something bigger and more radical to resist the tide of authoritarianism engulfing our democracies. We can't wait for institutions to act, it's up to us to organise.
- Reposted by Linda MannheimReminder: All it would take to end the murder of American citizens by an untrained government goon squad is 16 Republicans in Congress voting with Dems to defund ICE (or 23 to impeach and remove Trump — 3 in House & 20 in Senate). That’s it. 23 Americans can vote for the public and end all of this.

- Reposted by Linda MannheimFootage taken moments before a struggle shows that the man was filming, holding a phone in his right hand, backing up. His left hand is up, visible, palm facing out, as he backs away from the area. An agent uses his right hand, on the torso of the victim, pushing him back, while the man complies.
- Reposted by Linda MannheimFederal law enforcement agents shot and killed a man in Minneapolis on Jan. 24 according to local police officials. DHS told Fox News that the man was “armed with a gun”. A video of the shooting appears to show that a gun was taken from the man before the first shot was fired. x.com/BillMelugin_...

- Reposted by Linda MannheimThe history of civilian mass detention on the basis of identity without due process or recourse (which is how I defined concentration camps in my history of them) shows that it invariably leads to permanent harm—and typically significant loss of life as well. The longer it goes on the worse it gets.
