Shaun Davies MP
Labour Member of Parliament for Telford | Home Affairs Committee | Former LGA Chair & Leader of Telford & Wrekin Council
- 🚆 Yesterday marked a major step forward for Telford rail services as West Midlands Trains and London Northwestern returned to public ownership. Public ownership ensures services our trains are run in the interests of passengers, not shareholders.
- ✍️ by me in Parliament News on the sorry state of 5G in Telford, and the battle to even get that recognised. If you live in Telford and have experienced poor 5G connectivity, I want to hear from you. Email me at shaun.davies.mp@parliament.uk parliamentnews.co.uk/poor-connect...
- This Labour Government is pro-business, pro-worker and pro-family.
- Yesterday, the Labour Government set out how Telford and Wrekin Council will get an extra £66.6m to spend on services right here in Telford. Every year I was Council Leader we saw government cut after government cut, now we are seeing record investment into our Borough. 🧵
- A game-changing investment. I look forward to working with the Govt and Telford & Wrekin Council to make this happen and change the lives of SEND pupils.
- My heart goes out to the loved ones of this brave serviceman. A reminder of the risks that our brave men and women take every day.
- Putting #Telford at the Heart of Britain’s Defence Industry I’ve taken Telford’s defence growth ambitions straight to the Ministry of Defence, alongside Leader of Telford & Wrekin Council Lee Carter.
- A lot to reflect on from today’s Budget. Here are some of the key highlights. 🧵
- Telford Deserves Cancer Care Close to Home. Today, I was honoured and proud to host the launch the Sunflower Campaign by @lingendavies.bsky.social in Parliament — joined by The Rt. Hon. Wes Streeting MP who spoke powerfully about the need to improve access to cancer care.
- I'm proud to support this Government's Hillsborough Law.
- Almost 100 military homes in Telford will benefit from this Government's Defence Housing Strategy.
- Defence Housing Strategy: higher standards for veterans and serving personnel, better value for the taxpayer.
- £8bn for the economy, 20,000 jobs, strengthening NATO. Defence delivering for Britain.
- I was honoured to have a room named after me at the Local Government Association headquarters recently. As a former Chair and current Vice-President of the LGA, it means a lot to me to have this lasting connection.
- 𝐑𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬’ 𝐑𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐁𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐁𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐋𝐚𝐰 23% of homes in Telford are rented privately so this really matters. This is long overdue and will make a massive difference to so many people in our community.
- I hear you – whether in your letters, emails, or when we meet face-to-face. Our local NHS has a long way to go, and while we’ve made some progress, there’s still so much to fix and get right. I also see it too – as this is same NHS that me and my family use.
- Happy Diwali to Telford's community of British Hindus, British Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists - I hope you all enjoy your celebrations 🕯️
- I met with Hospice UK in Parliament this morning to mark Hospice Care Week. As I said last week, our hospices do vital and irreplaceable work, and we need to support hospices like Severn Hospice and Hope House Children’s Hospice - both with resources and reform to make them sustainable.
- As a part of Flood Awareness Week, I visited Flood Mary in Parliament to hear about the work she is doing to help people prepare for flooding.
- Today is World Homelessness Day, and this is a dangerous time of year for those without a home or sleeping rough. The Govt has announced £84m funding to help local authorities like Telford & Wrekin Council tackle homelessness.
- Fixing the Tory mess.
