Social psychologist Ph.D. | Exploring trust, future thinking, environmental behaviour and much more! | Senior Researcher @UniBasel, formerly @UniKent 🇬🇧 and @UniGeneva 🇨🇭
- Does #PoliticalTrust foster or hinder #volunteering? 💡 We took a closer look at this, distinguishing between trust in local / national government 📊 RI-CLPM with 3 waves, N = 5,039 UK respondents Now published #openaccess in @spspnews.bsky.social: doi.org/10.1177/1948...
- Results in a 🥜: 📈 Increases in LOCAL political trust are related to GREATER likelihood to volunteer three months later. 📉 Increases in NATIONAL political trust are related to LOWER likelihood to volunteer three months later.
- ❓ Although speculative at this point, we believe trust in national government is related to beliefs that institutions are already doing enough; whereas trust in local government (and greater contact with it) is related to beliefs that personal investment is safe and worthwhile.
- Reposted by Fanny Lalot📈 New research shows that increased trust in local government is associated with a greater likelihood of volunteering, but an increase in national trust is related to a lower likelihood of volunteering. - Welcome! This is the official account of the General Meeting of the European Association of Social Psychology 2026. Here, we'll be sharing all the important updates and information related to the upcoming congress. Feel free to visit our official website for more details: easp2026strasbourg.com
- 📽️ We have an official video for the European Association of Social Psychology (EASP) summer school 2025! Not only does it show my face as a still (why, oh why??), it also features my best take on #socialpsychology yet... youtu.be/JDcGJJuyRto?...
- "A lot of the crazy things that keep happening in the world actually can make a lot of sense once you start seeing it through that lens – people get in groups and then they do weird stuff." Yeah that's what you get when you force me to face a camera 😅 #socialpsych #psychology #AcademicSky
- 📢 New paper alert - hot off the press in #JEVP ! In our latest piece from the BIODIFUL project, we investigate how #FuturesConsciousness relates to acceptance of strong pro-environmental policies. 🗞️ Curious? You can read the article #openaccess: www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
- Results in a nutshell: 🎯 Respondents with higher futures consciousness are more supportive of all policies in general 📊 The effect is fully mediated by perceptions of policy fairness and effectiveness - but not intrusiveness
- New paper out! W/ Silvia Russo & Michele Roccato, we give a new twist to the distrustful complacency hypothesis - testing how it predicts preference for #authoritarian and #technocratic governance. 🔗 Read it #openaccess here: academic.oup.com/ijpor/articl...
- ✅ Support for technocracy: lowest among those with low trust in epistemic institutions AND low concern about the health consequences of COVID-19 ☑️ Support for authoritarianism: lowest among those with high trust in nonpartisan institutions AND low concern about the economic consequences of COVID-19
- 👉 Trust and concern interact, highlighting the importance of considering them both in combination. 👉 Different forms of trust and concern uniquely predict different governance preferences.

- 🤝 Who's motivated to #trust? In our latest publication in @joftrustres.bsky.social, we investigate the role of promotion and prevention (regulatory focus) as separate motivations influencing social trust 🔗 #openaccess paper: www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.... #trustresearch #PsychSciSky #SocialPsyc
- With some differences emerging between the scales used to assess regulatory focus, we find that #prevention is related to lower trust in others in general.
- On the other hand, #promotion is related to higher trust. The effect is less pronounced than for prevention which we assume is due to promotion being more self- and less other-oriented in general. Curious to know more? Check the paper! 👀
