- With support from snf.ch, @gvagrad-hcgs.bsky.social, and @gvagrad-ggc.bsky.social, the panarchic.ch project welcomed 12+ scholars working on 18+ global governance datasets for the 2-day “Future of global governance data and data in the future of global governance" workshop at Villa Barton last week.
- We discussed collection and use of #data on international actors, agreements, and instruments, common challenges and best practices, and the future evolution of our relationship with data as societies’ relationships to science and technology change and vary.
- We took inspiration from visiting @cern.bsky.social data centre (hosted by Ricardo Rocha) - where we discussed infrastructure, open data, and machine learning - into a hybrid discussion w/ other datadevs on discoverability, interoperability, and #AI experience/prospects for coding/building #GGData.
- Thanks to participants for such inspiring discussions! @cbrandi.bsky.social Cédric Dupont, Manfred Elsig @idkirt.bsky.social @ryan-griffiths.bsky.social @noemielaurens.bsky.social Tobias Lenz @intnlwaters.bsky.social Charlie Rogers, Marine Roux @yixiansun.bsky.social Jael Tan, and Didier Wernli

- Reposted by James HollwayI'll give a talk at the Geneva Graduate Institute @gvagrad.bsky.social on Thursday, 12 December. "Are liberal orders self-defeating?" is the small question for the afternoon. If you are around, do consider joining the conversation! Looking forward to it! www.graduateinstitute.ch/communicatio...
- I've been slow advertising changes to {manynet} over summer, because there's been lots of changes and reporting it all is daunting. But we're at v1.1.0 now. Here's an attempt at a 🧵 that introduces the bigger, exciting changes in v1.0.0--v1.1.0.
- The biggest is probably migrating all network analysis measures, motifs, and memberships from {migraph} to {manynet}. This integrates functionality and makes it possible to download one R package for many network analytic needs. {migraph} continues for testing and MRQAP.
- Manynet is prettier!! Prettier graphs with automatic node sizing. Prettier updates with progress bars for longer algorithms, and more helpful error messages. Prettier logo(shown above!!) as part of stocnet, and a new color-blind safe colorway. There's even a prettier startup message! (check it out)
-
View full threadNew and updated data!! Both the website and package profit from better structured documentation!! And updated tutorials.. Check out manynet at stocnet.github.io/manynet/ and migraph at stocnet.github.io/migraph/, and install both using `install.packages("migraph")` in R
- 🚨Urgent⏰ political problems are everywhere. But how are some expressed as more urgent than others? For our research project, Henrique Sposito, Jael Tan, and I invite everyone to complete a 10min anon. survey telling us the formulations you find most urgent: iheid.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_...
- Thanks to a generous donation from @dustinstoltz.bsky.social, I have a new book to read and insights to share!
- I'm offering the "Intro to Social Network Analysis" course @ecpr.bsky.social Methods School this year. It's online in the (Euro) am of 22-26 July. The course aims to provide a strong methodological start for network research with #manynet #migraph. More details here: ecpr.eu/Events/Event...
- New versions of both manynet (0.4.1) and migraph (1.3.2) are also available now from CRAN. Use `install.packages("migraph")` to install both! Partly this was to align links with the new/revived 'stocnet' org for sna repos and fix deps on igraph and ggplot2, but also to bring you NEW FEATURES!!
