- Reposted by Hannes Per CarstenWe had a wonderful time at #SPR2025 @therealspr.bsky.social in Montreal. Inspiring talks & posters, and as always, a pleasure to catch up with friends and colleagues. I’m also very honoured to have been named an SPR Fellow – a recognition of my ongoing contributions to psychophysiology and SPR.
- Had a great time today presenting data from the CoScience project at the #SPR2025 meeting @therealspr.bsky.social examining potential RewP blunting in subclinical depressive symptoms @anjariesel.bsky.social If you're interested in the project/ dataset check out www.coscience-personality.com
- Thrilled to have participated in the @rtg2753.bsky.social Summer School last week! Against a beautiful lake backdrop, I presented a poster on a project from the CPN lab @uni-hamburg.de lead by @anjariesel.bsky.social. The work explores experimental design choices when measuring the startle reflex.
- Reposted by Hannes Per CarstenWe mapped neural error processing across 7 major mental disorders using EEG data from over 10,000 participants. A transdiagnostic network meta-analysis with @hpcrstn.bsky.social, Kai Härpfer & Kaja B. Hansen. 📖 find the preprint here: osf.io/preprints/ps...
- Check out our submission for the 2025 "Psychophys Is" video contest :) @therealspr.bsky.social
- ✨ 🎬 “Psychophys Is” 2025 videos are lighting up the contest! This video was submitted by Hannes Per Carsten, Marina Dochtermann & @anjariesel.bsky.social. 🔗 Submit your video before October 1, 2025: sprweb.org/spr-video-co...
- Reposted by Hannes Per CarstenA new paper on neural error signals in OCD & anxiety, by Kai Härpfer, @hpcrstn.bsky.social, Franzi Kausche & @anjariesel.bsky.social. We explore how disorder type, transdiagnostic dimensions, clinical status & familial risk influence error signatures. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10....
- Reposted by Hannes Per CarstenExciting news! @kimsobania.bsky.social from our lab submitted her first first-author PhD paper on the neural correlates of fear learning in OCD and anxiety. Yay, congratulations! Check out the preprint here: osf.io/preprints/ps...

- Reposted by Hannes Per CarstenThe graduate programme on emotional memories at @uni-hamburg.de is looking for the next cohort of PhD students (11 positions). Great programme with lots of interesting projects. Join us! Deadline: 31.01.2025 The ad: www.uni-hamburg.de/stellenangeb... Graduate Programme: www.emotionalmemory.de
- Are errors more aversive in an uncertain world? We examined associations of intolerance of uncertainty and the error-related negativity together with Kai Härpfer, Marcelo Malbec, @mwieser.bsky.social, and @anjariesel.bsky.social Check out the article: doi.org/10.1016/j.ij...
- Reposted by Hannes Per CarstenCurious about how altered fear & safety learning contribute to anxiety, OCD, and PTSD? Check out our new meta-analysis on startle response, self-report, and SCR in fear conditioning! - New preprint on intolerance of uncertainty and the error-related negativity: Together with Kai Härpfer, Marcelo Malbec, @mwieser.bsky.social and @anjariesel.bsky.social we investigated cross-sectional and longitudinal effects in a preregistered RCT (1/3) osf.io/preprints/ps...
- (2/3) In a collapsed sample of N = 355 students, we found no cross-sectional links of intolerance of uncertainty or it’s subconstructs on the ERN and could not replicate previous findings.
- (3/3) We induced state uncertainty using a novel experimental uncertainty symptom induction. Momentary changes in state uncertainty did not significantly change ERN/CRN from pre to post intervention, further questioning the link between IU and the ERN in a subclinical sample.
- 🔥 New Research Alert! Check out the preprint of our meta-analysis on fear conditioning in anxiety spectrum disorders: In addition to integrate latest insights, we identified current challenges in research and derived recommendations for future work doi.org/10.31234/osf...
