- Have I mentioned here that I’m working on my Irish Mythology Tarot cards again? Finally expanding the original major arcana deck to include all 78 cards! I’m posting regular updates over on substack. I’ve the suit of swords planned and sketched, getting ready to finally start painting!
- This is my most recent substack update if anyone’s interested! open.substack.com/pub/amylouio...
- Reposted by Amy LouiseFrom January 5 - 9, Film In Dublin presents Saipan Week, five days of videos, essays and articles devoted to Lisa Barros D’Sa and Glenn Leyburn's exploration of the explosive event ⚽️ Cork's own @amylouioc.bsky.social captures Keane as a man in a myth in our Saipan Week artwork 🗡
- I actually like Dublin but it really feels like the city is actively trying to ruin itself sometimes. Like, the Complex is perfectly positioned, accommodates a huge variety of events and gives opportunities for creatives like why on earth can this be happening
- The Complex, one of the last large arts and cultural spaces in Dublin City Centre are getting evicted on Jan 14th. I cannot emphasize enough how much of a blow this will be to the arts community in Ireland. Please sign the petition if you can, it takes only a minute! my.uplift.ie/petitions/sa...
- GAME OVER for Kawafitober (late posting) The evil wizard has defeated you again!! What are you gonna do? #art
- Thinking on this again because my intentions are to finally script a graphic novel I’ve had in my brain for 4 years. But, I’ve been flip flopping over whether to challenge myself to write the comic script or just write the story in full like a novel and break down from there
- I’ve yet to actually pin down the exact story and all the fiddly bits that occur in the middle, which makes me feel like I should write as novel first and then add pictures later. I’ve been debating a “Shuna’s Journey” approach which is midway between gn and novel anyway so might be best option?
- Layout and storyboarding is something I find quite daunting, which is why I’ve been stuck on the planning stage for so long anyway. I also keep changing plot elements and I really want to finally pin something down story-wise
- Started discounty for a little break from octopath traveler 2 and why am I stressed!!
- What do you mean you’re expected to calculate the cost in real time!! What the hell!!
- Haven’t bought anything from the Shortbox Comic fair yet this year. Any bangers I should prioritize?
- Not to America post but my brain can’t comprehend how they’re allowed demolish entire parts of the White House like is there not a system to protect historically significant buildings how is that allowed
- This has been prompted by me reading IndieWire’s ode to the White House cinema, which is now also gone
- More kawafitober drawings!! This prompt is Ghost Whisper 👻 #art
- Curious to know if NaNoWriMo exists in some shape or form this November? I know the website shut down but I’d still like to do some form of informal version to kickstart some projects
- Been triple-jobbing for the last while and the stress that’s putting on my brain is not good unsurprisingly but one of the festivals I work for (KIFF) is finally on this week (!!) finally (!!)
- If you live in Kerry and like films definitely check it out we’ve worked so, so hard on the programme this year and it’s going to be very lovely and fun! kerryfilmfestival.com
- Btw these guys are in a little band and they like to practice in the rain because the acoustics are much, much better!! They swear by it!!

- Ooh I may have to buy this
- Been listening to @gra-phite.bsky.social while working lately and it’s so lovely and chatty. Didn’t realise how desperately I wanted an art podcast that’s actually about the Irish art scene (also thank you for the shoutout!!)
- Having 70% of my income decided by various arts co decisions is some laugh honestly I’m squinting at that budget allocation with 50 million prayers and I’m not stressed at all. Honestly.
- Hate encountering things outside my little bubble. Like the subsection of people that are really against the basic income for the arts. Like I know there’s lots else to fund but it’s all different pots lads. Apples and oranges!
- Also wish people would read up on the scheme. One of the things I think really worked was the random lottery element. No need to worry about connections and nepotism. Seeing a lot of very bitter people claiming it’ll be all fine artists, etc but that’s not true
- Now, maybe that’ll change with this new round but we don’t know anything yet. And I imagine that would be very controversial if so.
- Sort of crazy to live in a country that most people are actively trying to emigrate from at all times yet in international artist spaces, people are wishing they could live here for the basic income, surreal. It’s lovely to see but also lads, don’t fall for it. It won’t cover your rent!
- We’re very lucky in Ireland that it’s a thing at all but always important to remind everyone of the bigger picture too
- Let’s goooooo
