- Looks interesting
- Kind of sad. And I say that as an occasional pescatarian myself.
- 😬
- Another example of how people's trust in preventive treatment has been eroded, with sad consequences

- Reposted by Louise, Prof/DrSome interesting reporting in the New Statesman. There was a shortlist of four to be UK Ambassador to the US. Starmer favoured George Osborne. It was Morgan McSweeney who pushed for Mandelson.
- Reposted by Louise, Prof/DrIf Mandelson is being investigated for his Epstein connections, he must also be investigated for his Thiel connections, because they ran a joint fund when Mandelson fixed Starmer's visit to Palantir bylinetimes.com/2025/04/25/p...

- Reposted by Louise, Prof/DrIn 15 years when Peter Mandelson is next sacked from the government, having been caught red-handed robbing a bank, commentators will confidently predict that his career is definitely over this time.

- Reposted by Louise, Prof/Dr"By the end of the two-year period, 94% of participants reported they were housed." A million pilot programs show the same thing: when people are given enough money to afford housing, homelessness ends. Other supports matter, but housing comes first. Not policing. Not moralizing. Homes.

- Reposted by Louise, Prof/DrIn this week's column I seek to explain Keir Starmer's flat refusal to change our electoral system, even though its gross unfairness could put Reform UK in power on <30% of the vote. The reasons, I believe, are deeply cynical and disturbing. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

- Reposted by Louise, Prof/DrIncandescent. One of the best pieces I've read about what university means to people and their communities - and what will happen to a city and people after one closes. The *Labour* government and Jaqui Smith in particular should be ashamed of themselves and shamed into doing something. Deplorable.

- Reposted by Louise, Prof/DrI feel obliged to remind everyone that there are plenty of countries where higher education is either completely free or cost a token amount of tuition money and that many of these countries offer top notch teaching and research. It’s a political choice.

- Reposted by Louise, Prof/DrCNN is reporting the real reason Trump is closing the Kennedy Centre for two years is not for renovation: “the Kennedy Center does not have a 2026/2027 season. There would not have been any programming to announce."

- As we know, much of the opposition to traffic measures in Oxford was whipped up by a bunch of climate change and Covid deniers who don't live here. Kind of similar to the racist flag types importing a bunch of their extreme mates from as far afield as Sheffield this weekend to put up more flags. 😡

- OK, credit where credit's due. I was having a bit of a grumble yesterday about Jeremy Clarkson-branded stuff being all over the Cotswolds. But he's right about Farage. Maybe I'll buy a Hawkstone beer next time.
- ✅ Clarkson is right, people aren’t voting Reform for policies 👉there aren’t any. It’s a protest vote powered by nostalgia not a plan for future. Reform use farming as a prop. Their real plan is USA trade deal, hormone-treated imports and they’ve appointed Ben Goldsmith 🔗 archive.ph/2026.01.31-0...
