- Reposted by Matt SchneiderMy gosh. Alex Pretti was notifying neighbors that Trump and Vance's agents were chasing a family. A mob of agents then tackled him and broke his rib. He thought he was going to die. Then the very next week, he came back out to support his neighbors. And a mob of agents killed him.

And for us to remember their names.

That’s a hotel we were targeting, and it was mostly because of our pressure. We had two more hotels temporarily shut down to avoid housing ICE..." www.laborpolitics.com/p/how-minnea...
- Reposted by Matt SchneiderAs we grieve for Alex Pretti and Renee Good in MN, please do not forget Victor Manuel Diaz, who died in ICE custody after being taken from here. And all others who have died in their custody.
- Reposted by Matt SchneiderProtesters in Los Angeles projected an anti-ICE video onto the Twin Towers, an ICE-linked detention facility where the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department actively collaborates with ICE for deportation screenings.
- Reposted by Matt SchneiderThe majority of organizing happening in Minnesota isn’t just peaceful, it’s INVISIBLE. Moms showing up who won’t be interviewed on TV, people whose ICE patrols don’t turn into viral video. The grocery runs, the donations, the people filming bc they happen to be there. Please remember this.
- Reposted by Matt SchneiderSince July, I've tracked at least 2,300 cases in which federal judges have ruled ICE has illegally detained people without bond or due process. This is one that stands out: storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

- Reposted by Matt SchneiderAs someone who has spent over 35 years trying to explain that violence is inherent to policing only to have most people be OK with this, I could be excused if I decided to just give up. But I'm not. I knew we would be where we are today. I still think that we do not have to live like this.
- Reposted by Matt SchneiderAbolish ICE is not enough. It's not about training -- Ross who killed Renee Good was a TRAINER. It's not about body cams -- we saw Alex Pretti killed with our own eyes. We have to abolish the idea that violence ever made us safer, before it's too late. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...
- Reposted by Matt SchneiderWe don't need body cams for ICE agents. We need to terminate the entire agency.
- Reposted by Matt Schneiderthey're executing moms and nurses in the street. they're using preschoolers as bait. they're stealing people's dads and grandmas and children. they're tear gassing babies. they're staking out schools. there is no remedy but abolition. any proposal that doesn't start there is an act of violence.
- Reposted by Matt SchneiderAlex Pretti’s last words were “are you ok?” said the woman next to him who ICE also pepper sprayed in the face.

- Reposted by Matt SchneiderWe have been told for nearly 30 years that America needed to tolerate mass shootings because the broad availability of guns would help us defend ourselves from an overreaching federal government. That day has come. The people who said this are supporting the federal agents. Many have joined them.
- Reposted by Matt SchneiderHundreds of people are walking towards the federal paramilitary who *just murdered a guy this morning* with their hands raised. The courage of people who live here is stunning.
- Reposted by Matt SchneiderWe owe an incredible debt to the Minnesotans who are on the streets protesting and documenting what is happening.
- Reposted by Matt SchneiderToo obvious a point even to make, perhaps. But there was no “unrest” in Minneapolis before ICE and CBP showed up. ICE and CBP are the cause of the chaos…and the killings. Get them out of there.

- Reposted by Matt SchneiderThe amount of money that is currently going to fund immigration enforcement in the US is larger than the military budgets of every country in the world other than the US and China. We are witnessing a military assault on American cities by a wildly unpopular governing party.

- Reposted by Matt SchneiderIf ICE is emboldened to carry out extrajudicial killings of American citizens in broad daylight, imagine what's happening to the tens of thousands of people being held in makeshift detention camps across the US without cameras, attorneys and organizers
- Reposted by Matt SchneiderAt the end of the day, the Black Lives Matter era was about whether people should be killed in the street, and lots of people decided yeah and put those little blue flags on their cars. It spread to everyone because it stopped for no one.

- Reposted by Matt SchneiderI wouldn't be surprised if they start using these lists to put people on the no-fly lists, audits by the IRS, etc. as retribution. Once a government starts making lists of its citizens like this, the abuses will inevitably follow.

It was a striking show of solidarity with MN clergy resisting ICE, but heralded something else: the emergence of a vast, faith-based network trained to resist ICE. religionnews.com/2026/01/23/i...
- Reposted by Matt SchneiderI'm not one for false optimism. But what I witnessed today in Minneapolis was tremendous, both in scale and exuberance. It was a stunning answer to the federal assault on Minnesota, a show of solidarity that gives us something to hold on to during times that are unforgiving.

- Reposted by Matt SchneiderLast week, ICE arrested a six-year-old Queens public school student at her family's scheduled check-in. This morning, she was deported along with her mother. One of her siblings remains in detention. The cruelty of this federal administration knows no bounds.
