- Wow
- Disappointing news for treatment of central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO, “stroke of the eye”). A new randomized trial shows no benefit of IV tenecteplase vs aspirin when given within 4.5 hours of onset. Fewer than 25% of patients in either group recovered vision. www.nejm.org/doi/10.1056/...
- Pleased to share our new publication in STROKE: @americanheart.bsky.social Scientific Statement on Early Recognition and Intervention for Poststroke Spasticity. We support advances in research, training and implementation toward earlier diagnosis and timely, innovative spasticity treatments.
- Finally found something Copilot can do:

It was a house of cards, and it’s not surprising that it’s now falling apart.” -Mike Lauer, former director of extramural research 🧪 www.statecraft.pub/p/whats-wron...
- Don’t miss the 2025 Stroke Review from bluesky’s vascular neurologist, Dr. Dymm, @befast.bsky.social!
- Movie you’ve watched more than six times in a gif. Hard mode: no Star Wars, Marvel.
- Important change: no pre-approval required for NIH proposals > $500K.

- Did Apple Watch VO₂ max suddenly get way more flattering? Maybe something in the iOS 26 update? No explanation from Apple — but I’m not complaining.
- Fellow scientists, enjoy this low-calorie treat from Nature Scientific Reports, topped with the very best #AI. Thanks @erikangner.com for brightening my holiday.
- "Runctitiononal features"? "Medical fymblal"? "1 Tol Line storee"? This gets worse the longer you look at it. But it's got to be good, because it was published in Nature Scientific Reports last week: www.nature.com/articles/s41... h/t @asa.tsbalans.se
- Thrilled to be at #sfn25 with some of the best #NeurorepairLab science ever! First up: a method to trace sparsely labeled, long distance neuronal projections across entire mouse spinal cords and brains. Sunday afternoon (today, board NN12). Cajal would be proud! eppro02.ativ.me/appinfo.php?...
- #NIH proposals due soon? Have you seen this? All upcoming deadlines will be extended. (Mine was … tomorrow.) grants.nih.gov/grants/guide...
- Am I the only one who sees a field of myelinated axons?
- Incredible story of genius, art, and neuroscience.

Hospitals are complaining across the US that patients are "stuck" waiting for rehab beds at nursing homes when they are medically stable and ready for discharge. - US stroke neurologist here. Who can explain the new AI tool that tripled good outcomes and reduced treatment times by one hour, according to this article? From other sources it seems to be Brainomix CTA software - would that account for such a big improvement in overall recovery?
- That’s what happened to Google search? Proof that one person really can change the world!
- Greatly appreciate this review of epigenetic mechanisms underlying regeneration competency only in young animals. Especially timely perspective for those of us puzzling over CNS repair.
- Excited to share our recent viewpoint with @storerlab.bsky.social led by Kirsten Sadler, on epigenetic mechanisms of regenerative resilience. Ageing versus developmental silencing: Answers from the epigenome - Sadler - The FEBS Journal - febs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...
- Happy Birthday, new Parkland Hospital! Thrilled to have been with the stroke team that admitted the very first patient, 7:01 AM, 10 years ago *today*! While I've moved to San Antonio, Parkland still stands as a model for outstanding public hospital care. www.parklandhealth.org/news-and-upd...
- As owner of the stroke service “black cloud” it’s good to see the ED is well prepared for our kind of day.

- Spectacular view from the 2025 Gordon Research Conference on CNS Injury & Repair near Barga, Italy. Terrific science happening here. Double rainbow represents hope that new understanding of plasticity in spinal motor systems may lead to treatments for #stroke and other CNS diseases.

- Thanks for posting this terrific paper from @erichorvitz.bsky.social and team! Neurologists will be on board as we traditionally embrace *sequential diagnosis* where each finding generates a new differential, leading hopefully to the best next steps. 1/2 Preprint: arxiv.org/abs/2506.22405
