A professor at the ANU for many years, he also founded institutes at UCLA & NUS. And he was a lovely person
- The Indonesian government plans to release new history books. The big question is how Suharto's human rights abuses will be portrayed but the committee has also pushed back the start of history. What used to be 'prehistory' will now be 'early history', starting with homo erectus 1.8 million yrs ago.
