- As of this morning, residential and commercial waste collection services in Kent have been interrupted by a work stoppage at Republic Services due to an out-of-market labor dispute. Republic will be providing updates to customers and the City of Kent is monitoring the situation.
- Republic Services has indicated that, as with inclement weather service delays, they will collect double garbage, recycling, and organic materials on your next regularly scheduled service day at no additional charge. Residential customers can reach Republic Services at 206-682-9735.

- Yesterday evening before the Kent City Council meeting, Mayor Ralph proclaimed June 19 as #Juneteenth in the City of Kent at a flag-raising event. Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, commemorates the effective end of slavery in the United States.
- It is celebrated on June 19th, marking the day in 1865 when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, and informed enslaved African Americans of their freedom, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
- The City of Kent celebrates the inclusion of all races, ethnicities and nationalities, and we are actively working to dismantle systemic barriers that contribute to inequities and are committed to ensuring our policies and practices promote fairness, justice and equity for all.
