Lyle Lowery
Loves giant robots. Warhammer. Board games. Tabletop.
- Tacta is perfect for a quick filler game!
- Nobody sees the Tome Keepers coming.
- Just one game day in November. But one that racked up 34 games, including a few plays of one of the stars of Essen Spiel, Echoes of Time.
- I completed the 10x10 board game challenge for 2025! Here’s when I hit 10 on each: Fellowship: Feb 13 Scout: April 30 Heat: May 9 A Gentle Rain: May 23 Undaunted: May 24 Sea Salt: June 21 Santorini: July 12 The Crew: August 10 Marvel United: October 11 Sky Team: October 27
- Blood Bowl pitch maintenance is not for the faint of heart!
- October was the first month of the year I played more games with someone other than my wife. Bit of a slow month because it was very busy (including a trip to Spiel), but highlights include playing Sky Team in Düsseldorf Airport.
- I’ll be at Spiel Essen next week along with my friend and colleague Stephen Box of Vanguard Tactics! If you or your company are looking for freelance editorial, content or creative services or are interested in the video content offerings of Vanguard Tactics, please drop me a message!
- I love making a good stencil when I’ve got to paint the same thing over and over again. This t-shaped stencil can handle all three LI road plates: straights, Ts, and crosses.
- Finished the main story of Ghost of Yotei. Absolutely a worthy successor to Ghost of Tsushima, and the pair are two of the best games I’ve ever played. Atsu’s story is now my favorite revenge tale.
- Marvel United looks so good on the table.
- Plays were way down in September, BUT it included playing Rome in a Day IN ROME! That’s gotta be worth bonus points!

- I suddenly got really busy with work, so I forgot to share this, but I did maintain my streak and paint Wolverine! That’s four of these fun little models done in four days.
- My office for the past few days. It’s been a blast!
- Trying to keep up the pace of painting one a day. This time: Beast!
- Recently I posted about my Santorini in Santorini project. Next up is a trip to Rome! So I ask you, what’s a good game to play in Rome? Must be: Very portable Small footprint Two players Quick play time Low complexity Rome theme I’m thinking Rome in a Day. What do you think?
- I had so much fun with Sabretooth, I had to keep it going with Cyclops! Another quick and cheerful paint job.
- Been in a bit of a painting slump, so to get back on the hobby horse I painted this quick little Sabretooth from Marvel United. It was really fun!
- This summer I played Santorini in Santorini! To pull it off, I found and printed a nice little miniature Santorini board and pieces. I designed some nesting, removable trays to accommodate all the pieces some cards. It was a super fun project and a neat thing to tick off the bucket list!
- Thanks to an extended visit from some good friends who were really keen on trick-taking games, August was a record month since I started tracking plays at the beginning of the year!
- We had some friends in town for a couple of weeks, and the group got swept up with The Crew. So much fun! We really struggled with Mission 28, far more than any other. It was a huge outlier. Were there any missions you struggled with? Was it just us struggling on 28?
- Had a little fun with inDesign and made this mission log graphic of our recent plays of The Crew.
- Yesterday was a day to celebrate as I officially became a British citizen!
- July was a down month for board games, but an H-index of 3 for the month is pretty good!

- Thank you and goodnight.
- I was given a frame of epic-scale British infantry from the Battle of Waterloo, and for the first time I’m tempted by Napoleonics.
- I printed a tiny travel version of Santorini ahead of our cruise around Greece. 😁🥰
- I started logging my board game plays at the beginning of 2025, and hitting 150 in just over 4 months is crazy work.
- Today is the last day to find me at Adepticon for a Tome Keepers lore pack! I’ll be around the halls in a black Tome Keepers shirt. Remember the pass phrase: “The ink is still wet”.

- As a fun little project, I have assembled a Tome Keepers lore pack to give away at Adepticon to aspiring Tome Keepers! I will have very limited numbers on hand. Approach me with the phrase: “The ink is still wet.”
- Couldn’t not get this. Should I use it as my office water bottle?

- Upgraded and cleaned my painting desk in preparation for some holiday hobby time! I do love a clean desk.
