Astronomy and Beer
Im just your plain vanilla astrophotographer and amateur astronomer. I take pictures of the night sky and talk about beer. I am an advocate for dark skies and the reduction of light pollution. I am a civil engineer by profession and politically neutral.
- Well… guess I’ll get back to my lazy Saturday and continue reading Dan Brown’s latest mediocre book I’m reading. At least its plot is still somewhat of a mystery at a halfway point. #NFL #blowout #danbrown #cloudynights
- I saw @markhamillofficial.bsky.social recommendation for The Life of Chuck a few months ago. I doubt he will see this or even remotely care… but I watched it on Hulu last night instead of Dick Clarks countdown. What a fantastic movie and story. Highly recommend. #moviesandbeer
- Welcome to 2026 everyone. Hopefully this year comes with abundant clear and calm skies to make up this lackluster year. But if it doesn’t… well that’s why humans invented beer. #astrophotography #photography #beer
- Eff this wind. Been in Wyoming my whole life so I am used to the wind. But this year has been relentless. I just want to image the sky… #wyominglife #wyoming
- Just an average winter day here in Wyoming. Tons of winter sky photos being posted online and here I am in bortle 4 skies listening to my aluminum gutters rattle in the wind. I just want to set up my telescope. Is that too much to ask? #astrophotography #wyoming #wyominglife #windy
- Nothing special in terms of processing. No filters, no specialized lenses; just my basic iPhone13 camera set on 3 second exposures. Certainly not as colorful as the northern territories, but pretty darn good for latitude 42. #Wyoming #northernlights #photography #iphonephotography
- I’ve been struck down in my prime. I was cleaning an area for my telescope when out of nowhere, this tree stabbed me in my ear and broke my eardrum. I gave this tree life and it strikes me down. I think I might play the lottery. #thissucks
- Its about time of year for the cooler constellations to start being visible earlier in the night. How many constellations can you find in this star map? #astronomy #starmaps
- First narrowband image: The Elephant’s Trunk Nebula. 25 hours of integration in the Hubble SHO palette using 6nm filters. This one taught me how patient you have to be to see color in hydrogen, sulfur, and oxygen — but when it works, it really works. #Astrophotography #photography #bluesky #beer
- I just broke 300 followers. Yahoo! A little slower growth than TikTok but WAY faster then the toxic wasteland that is facebook and instagram. Anyway… thanks for the follows everyone. I appreciate it!
- New image coming. Finally got all of my data gathered and preprocessed. Now the fun stuff begins… making it all color. Choice of brew was A OK from the Gruner Bros. #astronomy #astrophotography #photography #bluesky
- Hey there Bluesky. Its me! My first Bluesky video. Check out my clear skies! #astrophotography #photography #bluesky
- 300s vs 600s subs in OIII: longer subs don’t give you more detail — they give you more data. Detail comes from stacking and integration. Think: subs = data, stacking = detail. #BeginnersTip #AstronomyAndBeer #astrophotography #photography
- Welp… no images for you but you’re in luck. This Astronomy and Beer. Are you ready for some football! #bluesky #ChiefsKingdom #ArrowheadStadium #GameDayVibes #FootballSeason #NFLKickoff #RedFriday #astrophotography
- Note to self. When scouting some land piece of land on the mountain to build a small observatory, buy some fuel first. I literally rolled into the gas station! Thank the creator for gravity. 😂 #sweatingbullets #astrophotography #bluesky
- The smoke has arrived . There is a big fire 130 miles northwest of me. Im surprised we got this far into summer before getting smoke honestly. #astrophotography
- Well my next target was supposed to the Helix Nebula. But Mother Nature has a different opinion on the matter. Skies are finally dry but southern clouds are omnipresent. Guess I’ll relocate the rig to the north side and resume operations there. #bluesky #its5o’clocksomewhere #astrophotography
- Throwing in the towel on this one. After 3 irritating months of bad weather and 8 separate imaging sessions, please enjoy my take on M20 - the Trifid Nebula. 9h 15m integration RC6 with ASI2600mm and Astronomik LRGB filters Beer: domestic nonsense #astronomy #astrophotography #bluesky #photography
- It's coming along. This one has been challenging for a lot of different reasons... Hoping to have this one done by this evening. #astrophotography #domesticbeer
- WTF!! #astrophotography Chance of clouds: yesterday 0%, today 100% and 81% of rain. 🤬 At least there is beer in my fridge
