- Reposted by Mayank SharmaPlz read our study by @lmumuenchen.bsky.social PhD cand. Lorenz. He describes chloroplast ionomes for several 🌱species & shows how plastid iron can be massively increased. Terrific help by peers from @ruhr-uni-bochum.de, @mizzouid.bsky.social and @uni-saarland.de academic.oup.com/plcell/artic...
- Reposted by Mayank SharmaPlz check out our preprint in which we investigate the role of KEA1 in #chlamy, a monoplastid algae. KO mutant vs WT comparison across the green linage reveals conserved but also novel insights in part linked to the mono plastid bottleneck. Thx to many terrific collabs 👇 doi.org/10.64898/202...

- Preprint from @dfg.de #GoPMF. All 🌱 scientists love to get their hands on pure protein, quickly produced in 🪴. However, purification can take too long, involve many steps or requires pricey reagents. @lmumuenchen.bsky.social , we established Catch & Release. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

- Reposted by Mayank SharmaHey #TeamTomo …would you like to try some 🍦ICECREAM!? Our @unibas.ch colleagues over at the @ivandokmanic.bsky.social lab have developed a stunningly effective tool to de-noise and de-wedge your tomograms. The contrast and details will give you brain freeze! 🍨❄️🤯 Please try, we need feedback 🧪🧶🧬🔬
- Our colleagues Vinith Kishore and Valentin Debarnot from the @ivandokmanic.bsky.social lab have come up with an amazing deep learning tool for denoising and filling the missing wedge in #cryoET data. I'm pleased to introduce Icecream🍧

- Hot off the press, first PI paper 🎉. Reporting a novel protein (VIA1) involved in thylakoid membrane biogenesis. VIA1 (similar to ESCRT-II) and bind to chloroplast ESCRT-III (VIPP1). Showing a direct role of VIPP1 in thylakoid biogenesis. @cp-cellreports.bsky.social tinyurl.com/msrepdna
- Reposted by Mayank SharmaSo, we all know that VIPP1 (the Very Important Protein in Plants) is the "photosynthetic ESCRT-III", required for the biogenesis and maintenance of light-harvesting thylakoids. But what about ESCRT-II, you say? ...Meet VIA1! Congrats @mayankdu.bsky.social on your lab's first paper! #PlantScience 🧪 🌾

- We propose a distinct mechanism of membrane remodeling in chloroplasts with resemblances to cytosolic ESCRT pathway. Kudos and congratulations to the first author and my first student Irem Yilmazer for all her hard work. And, big thanks to my mentor Prof. Zeeman for his continuous support. 🙏
