- Reposted by Chris(tyn) Parkes📣 Today @felicitycallard.bsky.social and I have published the first peer-reviewed response to the 'Sullivan Review' of research and data on sex and gender. doi.org/10.1111/tran... The Review could threaten trans rights and inclusion, erode academic freedom, and undermine research quality.

- At the risk of compounding the pain, I've always found Catherine O'Hara's eulogy for her former SCTV castmate John Candy to be one of the most moving speeches I've ever heard. Here's hoping someone can do for her what she did for Candy. www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKHK...

- Reposted by Chris(tyn) ParkesThe Council of Europe votes by 2/3 majority to accept the resolution banning conversion practices, brought by UK MP @kateosbornemp.bsky.social. #SexMatters and #AthenaForum tried their best to derail this resolution, but failed. Huge well done to everybody involved 🙌🙌🙌

- 86% in favour of trans-inclusive changing rooms and swimming ponds. 38000 responses. On their best day, the transphobes are outnumbered 6:1. Never forget that.
- Predictably, Labour's framing Gorton & Denton as "Us or Reform". It's a clever way to get people to not think about what elections are for. Yes, we must beat Reform. But ask yourself: What do you *want* to beat Reform? Labour's Reform-lite tribute act? Or an actual *progressive* Green alternative?

UK mainstream media has collectively ignored my research (as I expected) but not the Guardian Australia. Needless the UK and US Guardian's didn't share it.

- When articulated at length, the anti-trans argument against PBs really reveals its bigoted roots. The entire schtick rests on the conspiracy theory logic that trans kids who get PBs are, basically, seduced into taking hormones. It's just warmed-over 'they're converting your kids' homophobia.

- As any trans person could have told you for 5+ years now, the BBC's ability to contort perception through deceptive framing, exclusion of counternarratives, and Orwellian euphemism knows no bounds. Perhaps in future Mr Katwala, among others, will call out BBC transphobia with the same verve.

- Also, while I don't wish to imply anything at all about the author, the first line of the article immediately made me think of this 🤭:
- Shocking to read, both for the grim portrait it paints about the experience of trans people in the UK, but for the mere fact of it being published by a UK news outlet in the first place (one with a history of platforming transphobes, as it happens). Superb work from @youngvulgarian.marieleconte.com

- The New World asked me to speak to some British trans women about what life has been like for them over the past few years - here's what they had to say, in their own words: www.thenewworld.co.uk/marie-le-con...
- There's a terrific MA or Ph.D. thesis to be written comparing the tactics, strategy, and ideology of 1970s US Christian conservative pivot to abortion after segregation was lost, and the 2010s/2020s pivot to transphobia after equal marriage was won.
- The history of the rise of rightwing authoritarianism in the United States since 2000 can be told in four letters: W. Q Z X
- While I tend to agree, There is the exceptional case of Canada. Trump's first threats in early '25 prompted a unity of opinion that I was honestly stunned by. Quebecois separatists and, yes, Albertan conservatives all rallied around the flag in defiant resolve. It might not last, but still ...
- Yesterday I taught a class about the historiography of Stonewall. I used the official defacing of the Stonewall National Monument - removing the TQ+ by the administration - to illustrate how public memory and debates about history, aka historiography, have relevance today. Next year I'll use this.
