- For a dork like Musk, the fact that wealth brought him attention from the likes of Epstein is all he ever wanted in life.
- Reposted by Steve Baty (He/him)For years, Starmer's critics on the left have warned that he was trashing Labour values, kowtowing to the rich and powerful while hurting the poor and the living world. Every time, people here and elsewhere leapt up to call us "closet Tories" and "Reform enablers". Funny how they've gone so quiet.

They told rich and powerful people what they wanted to hear. While helping to consign us all to catastrophe. www.theguardian.com/environment/...
- “"President Herzog is being invited to Australia to honour the victims of Bondi and to be with and provide support to Australia's Jewish community," Wong says.” It’s also important never to conflate what Israel is doing with being Jewish - that’d be antisemitic

- Interest rates rising 0.25% *sigh*
- Monitoring and evaluation are essential elements of good policy. As essential as clearly defined outcomes.
- Happy Monday and a big 'Back to school' welcome for everyone with school age children. The increase in traffic this morning was appreciable; as was the irritability that goes with it. Yay cars!
- I'll post some more later, but there are some very real access and inclusion issues at the new Sydney Fish Markets. Nowhere near as good as it could or should be.
- The amount of blackmail material Epstein obviously held should give a pretty good indication of why the information isn’t being released
- For all the hype around the new Sydney Fish Market (I'm heading there today for my first look around) I was surprised and disappointed to learn that the government is only just now beginning upgrades to the light rail stop to improve accessibility...
- Reminded today that both of my maternal grandparents died on this day (1980 & 1996). Both fairly sudden.
- Tesla announced shit sales, shit profit and still trades at a P/E over 290. Bubblebubblebubble

- Clients aren't holding up their side of the bargain this week. Makes life a lot more difficult than it should be.
- Three days ago in Perth a man threw an IED into a crowd of people engaged in a public event to mark the beginning of colonisation in Australia. The device did not explode, thankfully. The official response - which has been disinterested at best - is telling.

- Reposted by Steve Baty (He/him)Please spread this far and wide, as stories don't get much bigger than this. When the government blocks even the intelligence services from telling us we're heading for environmental catastrophe, you know we have a problem. A very big problem. Thank you. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

- Just watched a post from a shark expert on ways to assess the danger from sharks in and around Sydney's waterways (given recent events) and I think I'll stick to my proven strategy of facing sharks where they're at their weakest: on land.
- "I'm not trying to paint an entire community with the same brush" he said, as he made sweeping generalisations about an entire community... Bragg is an idiot, and a dangerous one.
- Are there registers of pastors, preachers, priests, rabbis, deacons, and the like, to which the proposed 'register of imams' will be added?
- Poetry: "The Liberal Party as an entity is just ghostly echoes of the past prime ministers who destroyed it."
- Youngest children (twins, 16) went back to school today, beginning Yr 11. We are into what feels like the final stretch of childhood...
- David Littleproud would be great to play poker against. He'd be all-in on the first hand after being provoked into proving he wasn't too scared. Then he'd blame losing on Albo. Probably.
