Writer (often about music). Author of Can’t Stop the Grrrls and Weird Al: Seriously. New one about Angela Lansbury out now! Sometimes tries to be funny.
- Have any of you gone to get a quick coffee and then frozen at the counter in front of the iPad tip options? If so, this one’s for you!

- Happy to have this one out today, co-written with Lisa Pertoso for @belladonnacomedy.bsky.social I actually have another one out today too. My daughter thinks all this humor writing is my version of a mid-life crisis. She might not be wrong 🤣 thebelladonnacomedy.com/the-six-stag...

- My daughter’s school is having a pajama day in honor of Black history month and the “I have a dream” speech. I’m actually pretty mad that I didn’t come up with that as a way to satirize the way some school’s attempt to honor Black history month.

- So there are left and right socks now? Wasn’t sorting socks hard enough?
- My teen daughter told me she has a friend following me on Instagram. So much pressure. Any idea how I might appear “cool”? I’m thinking lots of 6-7 references and shots of me in black hoodies? What else? 😆
- The Murder, She Wrote Festival schedule looks amazing. And I am so so happy to be included! www.kelleyhousemuseum.org/events-murde...
- I’ve been told I need social media branding but that’s tough when I’ve published a book about Weird Al, another one about sexist stereotypes in music, and, the latest, a self-help guide using the life and work of Angela Lansbury. How about: follow me for quirky pop culture deep dives with heart.

- My daughter has finals for the first time today. So, on the way to school, I of course played the soundtrack to the movie Rudy, for motivation. Did I tear up because the music is just that amazing? I’ll never tell!

- Just because I bought something at Chico’s doesn’t mean I’m a Chico’s person now. I was just very cold!

- I want to read a review of Bad Bunny's Global Appeal: P FKN R by Vanessa Díaz and Petra R. Rivera-Rideau—any musicologists up for doing this review for me (reviews editor) and the Journal of Musicological Research?

- My kids hate this one so much which weirdly pleases me!
- I wanted to repost this one because it got boosted in Medium (such a big difference in terms of pay) but I somehow had the pay option unchecked so earned nothing. Let this be a cautionary tale for other writers—submit carefully! medium.com/slackjaw/a-h...

- My book Nowhere to Go but Up: What Angela Lansbury Can Teach Us about Living a Big Life just arrived. So I had to unbox it at Jessica Fletcher’s house!!!!
- Sure, the news is bleak. But there’s something good today too: Weird Al’s birthday!

- I’ll be at a local high school this week, W-F, helping with some of the kids’ college essays. I helped last year and it was so inspiring—these kids have so much potential and possibility. I just hope certain adults get out of their way.
- Another chance to wear my trench coat!!! csub.libcal.com/event/154062...
- Here I am talking Lansbury on the 1980s Now podcast! How was I at the Lansbury UK conference yesterday and on a podcast today? Am I a time- and space-traveling witch? Secret: I did both from home. But also, yes. player.captivate.fm/episode/653f...
- Danielle Sarver Coombs is currently presenting, talking about the fitness video Positive Moves (amazing). Even better, she just mentioned her new puppy J. B. Fetcher!
- It’s 5 am pst (where I am) and I’m up and ready to present at the “Lansbury at 100” conference in the UK (over zoom). Thank goodness, given the theme, I didn’t have to do much to get ready wardrobe-wise—trench coat and done! Jessica Fletcher forever!
- I had a lot of fun with this one! Fairy tales for parents!
- Additional book topic criterion: who would send me happy birthday wishes if I wrote a book about them (because Weird Al has done that every year on my birthday since I wrote Weird Al: Seriously)? (Amazing, I know!!!!)
- I have an October birthday (today) and have written two books about people with October birthdays—both people who are iconic, musical, kind, and admirable in every way—Weird Al and Angela Lansbury. If I stick with the pattern, what’s my next book topic?
- New book’s out this month! Happy October!
- Parents need all the applause, especially these days if they’re responsibly trying to help their kids through the chaos that is the world today. CLAP PLEASE!

- I’m taking a stand: A mule is too many things. It can’t be a drink, a shoe, and an animal. Too much.
- School picture time! Always the worst photo of my kids.
- For the record, I love love love kids theater. This is kind of inspired by the friends I have who may feel like they have to attend all the shows featuring my kids. There’s no obligation. In exchange, however, you cannot expect me to attend your kids’ sports stuff or know what a pop warner is.
- When in doubt, ask yourself, WWJW—what would Jessica wear? #jessicafletcher #murdershewrote #angelalansbury #fashiongoals
- Now that my Angela Lansbury book is almost out (a little over a month), just in time for the spookiest month (Murder, She Wrote month), I have a big decision to make: Do I need to buy a trench coat?
