- Yesterday I wrote on how bad Training Day is. Today I’m explaining why Arrested Development was kind of repulsive at the end of its initial run. (I will gut Mr. F.) I am not playing nice.
- I think the show is mostly great but it was crazy homophobic and like 100% of art in the 2000s evil regarding mental illness.
- My approach isn’t “this is bigoted, kill it.” It’s “this is important and good but it has a real problem we have to address to keep it in the canon.”
- Yeah I was hesitant to get into that because my memory was vague but…yeah that was my point. They’re right wing nuts and rancid people and it shows in their art.
- Like in hindsight American Mary is really NOT as progressive as it looks. You can feel a bit of “well you got what you deserved for transgressing” to it.
- My wife watched half of the remake of Rabid and can I say remaking Cronenberg when you clearly hate sex is a choice that results in a really atonal remake that she turned off halfway. Like that was hysterical bad.
- I’ve seen American Mary. It’s very good. It’s also a case where the directors are clearly not on the same wavelength as Cronenberg. They’re close but there’s a fundamental that destroys it
- This is just generic cannibal/rage zombie stuff. It was boring and so badly made. Also was Impulse the rare movie to suggest people would get weird if every inhibition vanished.
- Good lord. This is basically the five you need to see right here. Five absolute bangers.
- The Muppet fandom is so blissfully happy today and that rules.
- If I had a nickel for every time Nicholas Stoller wrote a sequel to a great movie Jason Segel wrote on, I’d fling both at Stoller out of spite.

- You know. Even Lola was talking last night about how sick she is of movies where cute things are deadly. Like she vented about how she just wants a movie where the Easter bunny is nice. She’s NINE. I think this trend is dead.
- I was reading a review of Buddy and I was genuinely bored out of my skull having to read about the same subversive tropes of kids shows over and over again. Cracked did this in 1993 ffs. It’s really exhausting. Maybe I need to do something where the trauma demon is secretly sweet and helpful.
- Collateral exists to show why Training Day is forgotten
- Writing up a 2001 movie that really stinks but somehow won a major Oscar. And what's funny is there's two films that could fit this big time. Somehow the one that gave the worst major screenwriter ever an Oscar IS NOT one. (I love A Beautiful Mind.. It's BS. Love it)
