- The tule fog is strong today.
- First daffodil of the year!
- The subject of today's Lesbian Historic Motif Project blog is a ticklish one--at the intersection of theatricality, erotica, lesbian incest, and plausible deniability in several directions. alpennia.com/blog/pop-cul...
- Thread about subverting govt records for queer visibility.
- Submissions are closed for the Lesbian Historic Motif Podcast 2026 fiction series. Largest number of submissions yet. Some interesting initial stats. A lot of shorter works (a quarter are flash length). People are taking seriously my request to go outside of 19th c. Anglophone settings.
- Ah yes, *there* is the last-minute rush of Lesbian Historic Motif Podcast fiction submissions. You still have until I log on tomorrow morning to get things in.
- 2026 has now tied for most Lesbian Historic Motif Podcast fiction submissions ever...and we haven't even gotten the last-day rush yet. Authors made me happy by sending things in steadily all month so I wasn't panicking. Still open until I log on tomorrow morning! alpennia.com/lhmp/essays/...
- Busy day at the Lesbian Historic Motif Podcast! We have a double fiction episode, finishing the stories bought last year, and it's the last day to submit stories for this year! Down By the Tumbling Stream by E C Hallewell Where You Go by Jennifer Nestojko alpennia.com/blog/lesbian...
- For those who are motivated by deadlines... TWO MORE DAYS UNTIL SUBMISSIONS CLOSE for the Lesbian Historic Motif Podcast's 2026 fiction series. alpennia.com/lhmp/essays/...

- I love this entire thread!** I have, at times, been asked to translate mottoes or adages into other languages and had to make the point that word-play and slang are very tricky to translate, both linguistically and sociologically. **I had to quote-reply because I can't reply to the original thread.
- New Lesbian Historic Motif Project blog, with an apology for forgetting to post blogs while I was traveling. alpennia.com/blog/edges-g...
- I’m probably overreacting, but all the no-previous-interaction accounts that popped up when I said the magic words “beta read” and are offering me their services are giving my block finger a workout. If I were looking for paid editing services I’d say so. And would reach out to known parties.
- I think I have finally finished a complete draft of my geeky Hugo-related project "The Theory of Related-ivity: A History of the Best Related Work Hugo Category." It came in at 50k words. Still need to do a couple proofing passes and fix some table formatting. Then maybe a beta reader or two?
- If the Lesbian Historic Motif Podcast's 2026 fiction series gets the same last-minute surge of submissions that we usually get, we're on track for a record-setting year. Don't forget to get YOUR story submitted before Feb 1! alpennia.com/lhmp/essays/...
- Despite everything this weather front tried to throw at me, I am now on a plane that will return me to California. No drinking or avenging required.
- I know it’s a tiny thing, but after setting out from Augusta at 9am this morning, through snows, cancelled trains, the entires NJ Transit system wussing out, and one valiant taxi driver at the Newark train station, I am ensconced at the airport Marriott. Whether the planes fly is for tomorrow.
- I love how many compliments I get on this coat. And I have so few excuses to wear it back home!
