Anchorage, AK. Personal account.
You were born, and so you're free. So Happy Birthday. ~ Laurie Anderson
- The federal government now operates like the mob, because of the people empowered to run it, burning up taxpayer money to commit violent fits of rage against the people who are forced to paying their bloated salaries.
- Federal prosecutors are investigating Gov. Tim Walz and Mayor Jacob Frey. n.pr/4qqiXvI
- Women have served and fought in wars for centuries, whether their peers & society knew about it or not. Having trouble dealing with women being in the military mostly says a lot about the men who feel that way.
- Sun sets on this year
- One last loaf in 2025
- Morning wind report: US flag at the Anchorage LIO getting frayed at the edge, Alaska flag just barely hanging on. There's a metaphor in there somewhere...
- Turns out people seem to want us to stop losing the War on Poverty.

- Just leaving this here
- Basically, running all the carnival rides as the support structures rust through & the bolts rattle out. "Come & have fun before it all collapses!" Except these are our public lands, wildlife, ecosystems, life that has a right to exist and thrive. www.adn.com/opinions/nat...
- Price spikes in health insurance premiums mean more people just won't buy it, because they can't afford it. That means more uninsured people. That means more bankruptcies due to medical emergencies & expensive treatment. And that means more misery.
- Found in the yard. I assume the authority is transferrable with the badge.
- What we all spend time and energy on, whether creating it or responding to it, is so far from what our actual urgent problems are, like to the whole planet. Plenty of people know that, and we're all stuck in the same circus. Unserious.

- I don't know who needs to hear this, but the induced demand principle of traffic means the Kink Arm Bride as a daily commute would be worse & more congested. More attractive in theory, but 1 exit point, crawling to the bottleneck.
- Imprisoning/institutionalizing the poor for being poor is an old strategy: debtors prison, exploited labor in the workhouse. Most of 20th century U.S. history is about deciding to not accept so many people suffering & dying, doing something about it. And people who lead us want those prisons back.
- And, there's the liquidation sale of public assets that we saw coming.
- This isn't the country I thought we live in, but it is the country we live in right now.

- It's sad that we're all held hostage politically & economically by small men with big egos, who would rather break the world than admit what they're doing is stupid, actually.
- Economic stability & growth requires stable, functioning government.
- It's magical thinking to believe society, complex economic relationships, cultural beliefs, and individual behavior will just be different, suddenly how *you* want them, if you shout out official demands onto paper. We're just being conned.
- Gee, it's almost like not wanting to pay the local property taxes in a community, while still wanting to access their services, the largest of which is schools... 🤔 FiScAl ReSpOnSiBiLiTy

- Apparently, the general human project to keep the species alive & able to maintain a civilization for a long time without instability & collapse, not a thing anymore. Everyone before us struggled much more. Truly tragic. (Also, seeing a trend of calling opinion pieces "articles" in a news source 😬)
- A good article explaining the senseless destuction of one of the US's most critical research institutions www.nytimes.com/2025/04/11/o...
- An increasing part of the economy is theft and scams. There was the New Deal, now we need the Honest Deal for the people.
- Fresh snow & longer days totally threw off my sense of time & season this evening - 8pm April looks like 3pm February.
- Businesses & consumers are being stolen from. This is a con: the promise of big benefits on the other end is a lie. It's just taking regular people's money.
- Me waking up to new snow: "Oh, this again." Me waking up every day in 2025: "Oh, this again."
- The parts of society being defunded - arts, culture, history, science, education, nature, etc. - are what make us more than consumers, and into community. They need protecting, they are keys to remembering who we are.
- "What did you do this Saturday?" I showed up, stood & marched with my neighbors, and exercised my 1A rights in Downtown Anchorage. Amazing turnout - thousands lined the streets, all ages, lots of support from honking cars. We The People are angry, and they demand action.
- It's both sad and unsurprising that so much of America is caught up in scams. Scams, cheating & lying to people for profit is a growing sector. And so many people fall for it, genuinely believing in the scam, or trying to profit themselves. We're a country built by idealists but also by swindlers.
- Good thing no one needs to buy anything right now *oh wait*
- TODAY, PEOPLE - vote by 8pm!
