- Full of sadness to hear about the death of Sir Menzies Campbell, or Ming, as we called him. His incisive intellect made him a formidable debater, though he was unfailingly courteous and always a gentleman. He spoke with power, authority and moral clarity in opposition to the Iraq War. He was right.
- Love this... we are a part of nature, not apart from it. youtu.be/w7VpbqktqEw #nature
- Prof Dasgupta's review for the Treasury advocated thinking differently about the economy and nature. How to put it into practice? Looking forward to discussing at @green-alliance.org.uk event tonight.

- Terrific, terrifying, clarity of writing in the Guardian about LA wildfires: "something climate scientists have been warning about for decades: compound climate disasters that, when they occur simultaneously, produce much more damage than they would individually" www.theguardian.com/world/2025/j...

- Liking this analysis and concept of 'qualitynesia', feels true of lots of things, also related to the annoyance of built-in obsolescence and enshittification (which at least we may be more aware of).
- It's a start...
- Reposted by Jo SwinsonEarnest post, but: a thing I like here is it’s okay to have moments of happiness in public without being broadly scolded, and I believe that sustaining this kind of humanity will be very important as we resist fascism. We have to sustain each other. Making joy isn’t denial, it’s how we will survive
- "This is our moment to act": reflections from participants at Partners for a New Economy's gathering, including Ashanti Kunene, ECF's Rachel Owens, Michael Weatherhead from WeAll, @juhajuha.bsky.social and @katemac.bsky.social Thanks everyone for making it such an engaging space to think together.

- Yes I know, crime against cheese. ...and yet, and yet... surely I'm not alone in my curiosity about whether this might actually be a genius combo?

- Reposted by Jo SwinsonA remarkable stat: Heidi Alexander’s appointment as Transport Secretary means the cabinet is now 100% state-educated for the first time in history.
- Thanks for doing this @iandunt.bsky.social - as I hoped and expected, sounds like we have the House of Commons at its best today, whatever the result.
- Excited to see this video of Partners for a New Economy's gathering in Brussels. We met the day after the Trump victory and German government collapse. In bleak times it felt nourishing to discuss fears, hopes & plans with those who share our mission of an economy that serves people and nature.

- Important research here on the link between people affected by rising rents & support for far right. Germany is an intriguing case study given relatively lower home ownership levels. More evidence that people (rightly) feeling the economic system is stacked against them has worrying consequences.
- New article accepted at CPS. @denis-cohen.bsky.social @thmskrr.bsky.social and I analyze how rental market risk affects radical right support. Combining data on local rent increases with the SOEP, we find that individuals facing increasing local rents become more likely to support the AfD. 🧵

- Really interesting data here on drivers away from political mainstream - highlights importance of paying attention to life satisfaction / wellbeing data (GDP is never the full story) and need to reset the 'deal' or social contract.
- Important article from @uniofexeter.bsky.social academics about the limitations of offsetting - better to focus on actual carbon reductions.
- Cheered to see this excellent appointment - Philippe Lamberts to advise EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. His combination of visionary thinking and political pragmatism was clear at the Beyond Growth event he organised at the EU Parliament last year. www.beyond-growth-2023.eu
- Delighted to chair the official book launch for 'Caring Is Sharing' by Katherine Twamley tonight. Some key findings from the research: 1. There is a massive difference for parents' quality of life between dads taking 2 weeks v 4 weeks of leave just after baby is born

- Absolutely this. 👇🏼 Massive insulation schemes to make homes cosy & cheaper to heat. Look at policies like Germany's unlimited local public transport for €9/ month.
