Astronomical Society of the Pacific
Through its materials, resources, and programs, the ASP promotes public science interest, engagement, and literacy through the awe and wonder of astronomy and related fields. Founded in 1889, the ASP is the first national astronomy organization in the US.
- February is Black History Month, and African Americans are integral to the history of aerospace & aviation. ASP believes astronomy is a fundamentally democratic science, with the cosmos equally accessible to all people regardless of age, gender, background, ethnicity, economic status, or abilities."
- We strive to democratize access to space science through community building, and observing this month reflects our commitment to equality year-round.
- Calling all educators! Sign up now for a four-part workshop series showcasing the free astronomy visualization software Stellarium. 🔭 Participants will learn Stellarium’s applicability for creating learner-centered lessons, facilitated by experienced ASP educators Tony Smith and Shanil Virani.💫
