- Wimsatt (an L&L school alum) is one of my favorite philosophers of biology. The paper below summarizes his most important work. I really like the “levels” aspects of his work!
- I still don’t know what to make of these new Epistein files, except I am beginning to think we don’t hate passionately enough

- Currently writing a short piece on “dialectical biology” and I need to get some things out of my system as it probably won’t make it. You can really do a longue-durée account of naturphilosophie directly to the various materialisms; what unites all of them is natural history.
- Of interest for people who want to see how Adorno deduces how neo-Kantians treat teleology as merely heuristic, how Horkheimer thinks error and development, and some cool connections in the intro on post-Kantian philsci!

- It’s genuinely impossible not to feel like you are being chocked when thinking about the Arabian peninsula and the Maghreb. We are not only caged, but actively poisoned. It’s debilitating.

- Read Cam’s excellent blog on Adorno and the “non-conceptual,” and how that is also related to the question of the party!

- More rising tensions in the Arab Peninsula (Saudi-UAE on Yemen). More and more cope to the sources of the issues.
- This will be a somewhat didactic post, but as much as possible, it really is the time to make sure you’ve a robust account of racism, sexism, ableism, and so on. Study the history thoughtfully and abandon easy notions, especially with the return of race science. It’s returning for a reason.

- New from @crittheoryworkgrp.bsky.social: “EP 8: The Anime Question The CTWG's Anime Subcommittee convenes for a holiday discussion of Marc Steinberg's book 'Anime's Media Mix' (ft. Hatsune Miku)” As you can see, we are trailblazing culture industry discussions. Adorno-sensei would be proud.

- Note to future researchers. History of biology is probably the craziest and most interesting history of science (you essentially have to deal with all of them), but god damn is it not good for someone’s health, especially the late 19th century and like all of the 20th century.
