- Labour Party Conference in Liverpool is (nearly) over! We’ve met some wonderful people who are passionate about shifting the dial on outcomes for blind and partially sighted children, young people, and their families. Enormously proud to be part of #TeamRSBC @rsbc.bsky.social
- 👀 Tune into BBC Breakfast today at 07.50 to meet the amazing Maya and Sharn, and find out about our exciting new Bedtime Donations campaign from @rsbc.bsky.social 💡Learn more about the campaign and get involved: www.bedtime-donations.com

- This is reassuring, with people who know education and SEND at the helm. I’m just hoping the taskforce can underline the value of EHCPs; the fiscal/emotional advantages that come with getting support right 1st time; and need for specialist expertise w/ low-incidence high-needs student outcomes
- Today, we're announcing the members of IPPR's Inclusion Taskforce, chaired by @realgeoffbarton.bsky.social. We have brought together leaders from education, policy, and politics — alongside parents — to find solutions for a system at breaking point. Find out more here: www.ippr.org/the-ippr-inc...
- This surprised me. Then I remembered MY algorithm is optimised for ME and my echo chamber. And that we’re all living in these optimised digital bubbles. And that tech has the power to destroy us. And that I’d benefit from fewer devices. And I should probably Google digital detox. Happy Thursday 🌈
- I know I can waffle on about value vs cost. But this is pretty unambiguous. Timely, specialist interventions for children and young people cannot be written off as ‘out of budget’. I do feel like this is a crisis we CAN solve in our lifetime.
- 📢 The £51bn case for improving children’s mental health 1 in 5 UK children aged 8–16 likely have a probable mental health condition (NHS Digital, 2023). Yet only 36% referred to NHS services are seen within 4 weeks. Thousands wait over 2 years. 1/5 New report: pbe.co.uk/publications...
- Yesterday the whole RSBC team came together to explore our new strategy, share ideas, learn and celebrate some of the brilliant people who move mountains on the regular. Grateful to work with such a talented bunch who bring their whole heart every day. But, as an introvert, I’m knackered now.

- I don’t know if Portugal is boring, it’s just very Paul McCartney and that’s not the #Eurovision market
- Latvia was styled by Bimini and no one will convince me otherwise #Eurovision
- Came on here to see the #Eurovision commentary and so far it hasn’t disappointed.
- Reposted by LilyMy eight year old daughter, Nina has come up with her own slogan - autistic. Because she believes that if you have autism you’re fantastic. If you agree please give this a like or a share (she’s been inspired by @francesryan.bsky.social activism)
- Our little girl has been making plans for her 4th birthday. Halloween obsessed, she wants to be a spider princess. But the kid’s so worried about her cat feeling left out and wants matching his-n-hers outfits to make sure he feels included MY HEART IS BREAKING WHAT DO I DO
- My niece and nephew (aged 8 and 10) were denied access from the Barcelona v Chelsea #UWCL semi final today because they were wearing Barca colours. They tried to change, still no. No pre-match guidance on this, other matches had no issues. I’m not a football person, can someone explain this one?
- Girl, same
- And the news headlines remain focused on the economics. This image is just heartbreaking. No one should have to live like this.
- This thread is probably one of the best things you’ll see today tbh
- “I’m a naughty daddy!” was the jump-scare I enjoyed this evening. 3 year olds.
- His elegance is breathtaking.

- Only 1 in 4 blind and partially sighted people are employed, and with SEND being where it is I don’t know whether that stat is likely to meaningfully improve any time soon. The system needs to work for everyone. Young people want to work. Will be interesting to hear more about the government’s plans
- The assisted dying vote this week has brought up a lot of unexpected emotions for me. Like many of you, I suspect. When my mother was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, one of the first things she told me was that she was going out on her terms. (1/?)
- This is an excellent, measured statement - a case study on how to navigate the X situation without raising the temperature. Thanks @charitycomms.bsky.social
- This is peak divorced dad energy
- Could this lead to open book costing on all social care contracts in future? Social workers have left the sector b/c the pay doesn’t reflect the demands of the job; charities pressured to service contracts below cost… www.gov.uk/government/n...

- Reposted by LilyOk, I've created a Starter Pack (but of course) of journalists who report on public services and 'social affairs' rather than Westminster - think NHS, education including SEND, housing and homelessness, benefits, disability, care services etc Reply with any suggested additions go.bsky.app/Hp9iayAat://did:plc:5pkfx6mzhaq7tatkmj77qg4q/app.bsky.graph.starterpack/3lb5hn7fa6g2i

- Reposted by LilyNEW: Is Britain’s welfare too generous? Most countries pay workers who lose their jobs more than half of their previous salaries. In Britain, unemployment benefits are *12%* of the average wage @thetimes.com 1/5 www.thetimes.com/article/c28d...
