- Are you interested in aging research? Are you keen to explore the molecular basis of kidney disease? Do you want to be part of research aimed at understanding and tackling health disparities?
- Join us at Queen’s University Belfast for a fully funded PhD project exploring molecular biomarkers of aging, such as DNA methylation and telomere length. This interdisciplinary project combines: ✅ Molecular biology ✅ Epidemiology ✅ Public health ✅ Data science
- Come and work with us. You'll work with a collaborative team of researchers and have access to rich datasets and advanced lab techniques.
- Today is #InternationalDayOfOlderPersons, a day to reflect on the health challenges faced by older adults and the research that supports healthy aging.
- In May I began my @vivensa.bsky.social proleptic Fellowship on aging and CKD. I am grateful to all who supported this work! PhD opportunity hopefully coming soon! 👀 Keep your eyes peeled. #CKD #HealthyAging #PhD @qubelfastofficial.bsky.social @aj-mcknight.bsky.social
- Great to be at the Kidney Research UK Driving Discoveries meeting in Bristol this week. Lots of wonderful research and work on show so far. Looking forward to the Early Careers Forum this afternoon!
- 🎂 Data, but make it delicious 🍰 As a joke, I searched for a dataset about The Great British Bake Off… and guess what? There’s an R package called `bakeoff`. So naturally, I baked up a quick analysis. Here’s what I found: --- #GBBO #GreatBritishBakeOff #DataScience
- 🥇 Technical challenges matter Series winners had a significantly higher median technical ranking across the series. 📊 p = 8.143x10-5 - a pretty strong signal! 🌟 Star Baker status? The number of times a baker was crowned Star Baker didn’t significantly differ between winners and non-winners.
- 🧁 Week 1 technical rankings? Not the be-all-and-end-all Turns out, your first impression in the tent doesn’t say much about your final fate. TL;DR: Consistency in technical challenges might be the secret ingredient to winning Bake Off — not flashy showstoppers or early success.
