- Such a pleasant time of year on the edge of #Cycling City #Tokyo. While the area is pretty car-centric, many people also walk and cycle daily, and along this car-free, 8km-long greenway you see scenes like this. Listen and you'll hear the birds too!
- 自転車都市東京 A busy railroad crossing in #Cycling City #Tokyo, where so many people line up on foot or on bikes, waiting for the train/s to pass. The majority of them are (who appear to be) women on a weekday afternoon, and most bikes are "mama chari" (mom's bikes). Driving here isn't a very wise idea!

- In Japan, women cycle more often than men. But that's partly because women handle more (unpaid) household tasks. In the 3 biggest metro areas, women make 50% more cycling trips every day, shopping 3x as much, taking kids to/from kindergarten/school much more often. Their voices matter. #womensday

- It's unusually warm in Sapporo and some people (especially students) are still riding their bikes. Cycling infrastructure is nonexistent.
- Bikes on display at the storefront of a big, multi-story electronics strore in Tokyo, providing people what they need in their everyday lives. Tokyo's overall cycling modal share is over 15%, and that's for the whole prefecture of 13 million residents.

- Went shopping, came across one of my students from years ago, who instantly noticed my Keffiyeh, and we bumped our fists as we parted. Half an hour later at a crossing, a stranger (seemingly from abroad) also noticed my Keffiyeh and asked for a fist bump. City streets are media, because we are.

- アメリカ、コネチカット州ハートフォード郊外。学校へ子どもを送る保護者たちの車の列の長さが深刻。投稿者さんはカーゴバイク🚲に子どもたちを乗せてスイスイ、寒いけどちょっと汗ばむくらいの運動にもなる。どんなまちをつくるべきか、よくわかる動画です。
- 🚶信号が赤の道路を挟んで、小学校中学年くらいの子どもさん同士が「どこいくのー？」「おつかいー！」と大きな声で会話していた。尋ねた子は自転車で、答えた子は歩き。ヒューマンスケールな移動で暮らしが成り立つまちには、こういう光景が本当にいっぱいある。
