“But the methodology for extracting these takeaways is unclear. The government says that it used multiple AI tools […] before using an in-house classification pipeline”
In other words, they didn't like the results, so rewired lie generating machine until they did

The government used AI to parse more than 11,000 submissions that will inform Canada’s new AI strategy.
This is a clear and direct example of government using "AI" to launder data and lend legitimacy to whatever conclusions they want. I strongly doubt these takeaways, which absolutely reek of known corrupt fraud Evan Solomon, actually reflect the survey data at all
Even with that aside, practically this whole thing is essentially talking about categorizing analyzed sentiment of free-form text. Specific method of doing so aside, this is an absolutely bonkers way to collect survey data on an issue like this
Feb 4, 2026 23:19Letting people write things is all well and good, but IIRC the OpenMedia survey I filled out, for example, consisted mostly of simple questions that you answer by picking from 1-10 on a disagree/agree scale. Straightforward ungameable data you could aggregate with a pocket calculator
What is even the point of setting fire to the atmosphere so Evan can dick around with chat bots anyway? Just throw the survey data in the trash and lie outright. The end result is the same anyway, but there's a marginally better chance that future generations will be able to fucking breathe
Canada is being dismantled with suicidal neoliberal policies, even more aggressive than the ones that led us here, the whole government is being DOGE'd by dipshits who are every bit as deranged and evil as Elon, but the libs don't care at all because their team won the federal election
Even after watching the US go through several phases of liberals paving a superhighway for the fascists to roll in on, even after seeing the Biden years end the way they obviously would, even with a parliamentary system with more than two parties, the same shit happens to thunderous applause
If you even mention the idea of consequences a few years down the road, people look at you like you've got two heads. These people barely even have object permanence
It's often said that bourgeois electoral politics is like sports fandom, but it goes unmentioned that most people are absolutely shitfaced at the game, to the point where they won't even remember anything tomorrow
