Brain modularity is a concept inspired by how we make machines. But brains are not made by people.

However there's also clearly something going on a bit like modularity, both in terms of structure and function. And reasons why both might evolve (genomic bottleneck, generalisation).
Do we need a new word for this instead of repurposing modularity? I'm open to that but don't have particularly strong feelings.
