- On the one hand, this toothache is awful and it is keeping me up all night. On the other hand, it is quite interesting (and slightly pain distracting) to introspect it whilst thinking about transparency and representationalism, and illusionism etc. Who says philosophy is useless?

- Reposted by Yuri CathIt's taken a few years, but I've finally framed and hung the painting I did of Mary Midgley shortly after her death. Now, she can stare over my shoulder when I'm in an online meeting or seminar, judging people who start on any bullshit.

Philosophers Drs Dr Heather Browning (Veit) and Dr. Walter Veit have pondered this question of consciousness too. Get inside their mind in this piece for The Conversation UK 🔗 rdg.ac/3SRoEnk

- Just realised I went back to work half a week too early today. 🤦♂️ (Not sure how I managed it, but somehow I got confused about the end date of the rec leave I asked for.) Oh well, at least I can return to watching the cricket now...
- Had a great time looking around the Auckland Art Gallery today. I worked here for a couple of years as a gallery assistant post art school and pre studying philosophy. A lot of the artworks here feel like old friends as I spent so many hours staring at them back then.

- I'm happy to report that I've been promoted to Associate Professor! A big thanks to my referees for their time in reviewing my work, to many different colleagues at La Trobe for their support, and to the many great mentors in philosophy I've had over the years.

- It's that one day of the year when I watch an AFL game and try to make sense of what is going on.

- Some striking heads and patterns from the NGV's wonderful Kimono exhibition. (Thanks to that weird game they play here for giving us a public holiday today.)
