- And there's usually a caveat in there. I go over this with recruits in the first week of fire school. "Your bunker gear is rated to survive direct flame impingement at 1200 degrees for 90 seconds. Who thinks you will survive impingement at 1200 degrees for 90 seconds inside it?"
