- If we took the idea of "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" seriously, we'd be making different and better decisions to deal with homelessness stephnakhleh.substack.com/p/lightly-ho...

- I too have been flabbergasted by this but my spouse pointed to a framework called "mistake theory" vs. "conflict theory" and if you are a mistake theorist (me, apparently, and probably Sam) then conflict theorists, which most online leftists are, are speaking a totally foreign language to you
- But what makes housing affordable isn’t just who buys it—it’s whether we allow enough of it to exist. My piece is about the difference between income-restricted housing and the everyday housing that used to be affordable by default, before we made it illegal to build.

- Have you noticed that, among some progressives, despair is now a political credential? Like: “Oh, you still have hope? How embarrassing for you.” I wrote about this: stephnakhleh.substack.com/p/ok-doomer

- I no longer remember what this is and Google Lens is no help, but it's one of my favorite perennials in my garden. I planted it 3 years ago to replace a dead phlox. Phlox struggles in my difficult backyard conditions but this gal thrives! Last week she was even prettier

- Look at his lil rattlesnake-bite scar 😭 That was one fang. The other fang went in like 2 inches to the left. Big ol' snake.
- When you don't build enough housing, you create spillover effects that raise the wretchedness quotient of the whole region #homelessness #housing stephnakhleh.substack.com/p/why-are-th...

- My 2nd piece on Santa Fe’s solar battle is out. These fights follow a pattern: too many veto points let a few inconvenienced people kill projects w/ broad benefits—like clean energy, housing, safe streets. One fix is to pay those who bear the biggest costs. stephnakhleh.substack.com/p/we-can-hav...

- My new piece explores the generational divide in environmental values and how "cautious environmentalism" threatens climate action—as seen playing out in the Rancho Viejo debate in Santa Fe. Part 1 is live; Part 2 drops tomorrow. #climateaction #solar stephnakhleh.substack.com/p/when-bill-...
- What a sad ending. Law enforcement officers are not immune to substance use disorder. I wish this fact meant the people who generally support LEOs would be kinder to people struggling with SUD, but it doesn't seem to work that way www.santafenewmexican.com/news/local_n...

- He's back! Almost totally normal today, very playful. Only I put a treat in a box to see what he'd do and he was like fuck that, I'm not putting my nose in anything I can't see. Which I was happy to see tbh
- 25 years after Cerro Grande, Los Alamos faces twin crises: insurance issues and housing scarcity. Instead of chasing land transfers from DOE (which would result in uninsurable housing), let's build dense housing in safer zones away from the WUI fringe stephnakhleh.substack.com/p/cerro-gran...
