But 3 trans migrants told me what it’s really like: Medical neglect. Solitary confinement. Harassment. www.huffpost.com/entry/trump-...
- Reposted by Rome_VanWaIn Minneapolis ordinary people with no connection whatsoever to Mexico are now flying Mexican flags, so ICE officers will waste hours pulling them over and questioning them. They call it "ICE fishing." H/t Mayra
- Reposted by Rome_VanWaBy the way, for those of you not in MN: Homan’s strategy was to withdraw some agents, so it felt like we were in the denouement of the crisis, and then escalate hard against observers. They’re being incredibly aggressive with observers now. National media may not want to check out just yet
- Reposted by Rome_VanWaThe Department of Homeland Security is using administrative subpoenas, a secretive tool issued without a judge's signature, to go after people lawfully reporting ICE activity or criticizing DHS policies. This is a direct attack on our First Amendment rights and we're fighting back.

- Reposted by Rome_VanWaAbolish ICE. There’s no reforming it. There’s no compromise. There’s only one way to rein in ICE’s terror campaign. Abolish it.
- Reposted by Rome_VanWayeah seeing the "Minneapolis took off because the so-called 'activists' got out of the way and let normal people in" takes is really frustrating. that's not at all an accurate look at what's happening in Mpls or anywhere else. All these movements rely on cores of people who have experience.
- Reposted by Rome_VanWaAfter Border Patrol shot two people in Portland, DHS claimed they were "vicious gang members" tied to a past shooting. But records I obtained reveal a US prosecutor has since directly contradicted DHS, saying, "We're not suggesting he is a gang member." My dive into how DHS' claims have collapsed:
- Reposted by Rome_VanWa🚨 Documents leaked to me reveal a federal watchlist of American protesters suspected of being Antifa - including its supposed leader. One Department of Homeland Security document says a 29-year-old resident of Portland "is the leader of Antifa": www.kenklippenstein.com/p/feds-ident...
- Reposted by Rome_VanWa1/31: Narrowly avoided being arrested when LAPD officers kettled a small group of protesters, legal observers, and press. I ID'd myself as a journalist & tried to leave but an officer claimed I wasn't exempt from dispersal orders & said I would be detained. Luckily another officer let me leave.

The Republicans ought to nationalize the voting. We have states that I won that show I didn't win. You're gonna see something in Georgia"
- Reposted by Rome_VanWaThe Department of Justice is not supposed to be a tool for the president to exact retribution on his perceived enemies. The fact that we have to say that is outrageous.

- Reposted by Rome_VanWaJust returned home from the anti-ICE protest in Portland today. A 100% peaceful crowd that the Portland Police Department (PPD) estimated to be "in the thousands" marched past ICE's Portland HQ. ICE, of course, responded with a barrage of tear gas and chemical rounds to suppress free speech.
- Reposted by Rome_VanWaIt’s so hard to describe what this is like to people who aren’t here. The ICE/BCP occupation seeps into everything. It’s not just the horror of the big stuff. It’s the little stuff, too: helicopters all night, vigilance during every trip out of the house, guilt at having any downtime at all.

- Reposted by Rome_VanWaDon Lemon and Georgia Fort have been released. But the procedural history now emerging is unusual. Before the arrests, a federal magistrate judge found no probable cause to arrest them. The government appealed anyway. Here’s why that matters—and what it signals more broadly.
