Royalties hit my inbox this morning and I'm eight pages of final revision away from turning in a dream come true book project.
Sometimes this job is kinda neat
The Kraken won.
The Seahawks won a trip to the Superbowl.
In this dark time, I'm grateful for the little bits of joy I can find in fandoms. And Seattle sports fans had a good day today. 💙💚🩵
I just saw a couple of little (maybe 10 yrs old) girls doing ballet in the hall in CPA and I gave them a tiny note which led to one asking if I'm a dance teacher and when I told them that I've worked professionally as a dancer, they looked at me like I was made of magic.
That made my day, NGL
One last full-throated cry for pre-orders, as the window closes today. Books will be released on April 7th, 2026; I will be appearing at @crowsnest.quest, @illusivecomics.com, and Zulu's Board Game Cafe Bothell to sign and personalize copies.
All first edition printings will include a special card.
My love for this creature knows no bounds. There is no feeling in the world quite like being actively snuggled by a 25+lb cat.
He is perfect and wonderful.

I put on Real pants that button and hook and zip and FIT this afternoon and... I am regretting my life choices in the worst way.
Pants are no fun.
I am counting the minutes (280) until I can change back into sweats or pajamas.
Today I learned: coriander is one of the spices used to make pastrami. I haven't had pastrami in a long time & my allergy has gotten progressively worse since then.
I made pastrami sandwiches for dinner tonight because I had a craving.
And so today I learned. 😭
GATES OF GARNET AND GOLD comes out tomorrow, and takes us back to the story of Nancy Whitman and her days in the Halls of the Dead. As this is an odd-numbered book, it takes place *after* EVERY HEART A DOORWAY: she's already been sure. She's gone home. So why are we seeing her again?
On a panel at a con a couple of years back, I mentioned a fanfic I wrote in 2016, and a fellow panelist exclaimed, "THAT WAS YOU!!???!!!"
And I will be chasing that dragon *forever*.
Author Goals:
To have a stranger, upon learning I write, ask me if they've heard of my work. Then when I tell them my name and some titles, they say, "OMG! I *have* read your stuff!"
To see someone reading my book in the wild so I can say, "That's my book" to them.

I'm a femme cis woman who's queer, disabled, and have been traditionally published as a fantasy author since 2018 and I AM STILL NOBODY.
There is no such thing as "breaking in". There's only doing the work.
We are all nobody in the book world when we start out. That's what "starting" means. And no one "breaks in" by attending a single in-person convention. Anecdotal evidence suggests I might be the Princess of Genova, but no one's lining up to crown me.
But here's the thing: when I wrote my first book, I was bad at writing books. So I re-wrote it about a dozen times, and in the process, I learned how to be good at writing books. When I wrote my first sonnet, I was bad at writing sonnets, and so on. It's the process of learning to EXECUTE...
The actual most fun part of being a parent [for me] is the putting out the Santa gifts & stocking stuff on Christmas Eve. It used to feel like a bigger deal when kiddo was little, but it's still super fun when months of scheming is paying off.
Happy Christmas to all who celebrate!
