- Reminds me of an ancient photo of my great grandparents, stiff and dressed in all black, it was a glimpse of the past. Sadly saw it just once, now lost forever.
- When watching Downton Abbey I had to explain to my husband the purple signified half mourning.
- Ugh. They really knew how to make themselves even more miserable than the grief. Crape is right up there with sackcloth and ashes.
- Yet, some women valued wearing mourning because they were instantly recognized as bereaved--they did not need to explain their loss to the world.
- Something tells me she was not internalizing the mourning thing.
