- when i was 6 years old, i woke up on september 2nd and found my triplet brother paul — my best friend since we shared a womb and truly one of my soulmates in life — had died in his sleep. 28 years later, there has never been a single day since that i haven’t thought about him.
- today in my daily meditation i thought about 6-year-old dom and i told him i loved him. i sent him peace in the midst of difficulty. he was in so much pain for so long. if only he knew that one day he’d think of his brother and smile instead of cry, even though it took a while.
- if only he knew that everything he’ll do in his life, from how he parents to what he does in his career, would be for paul.
-

- I didn’t actually believe it was true but for a brief moment I had this feeling. It was kind of like the moment I experienced love at first sight. Butterflies fluttering. A clear vision of the future. A warmth like a long hug in the bitter cold of winter. What was this feeling? It was hope.

- Reposted by Dom Kellytoday a UN body announced famine is in Gaza. this oped from New Disabled South connects US funding of Israel's starvation campaign to Trump's BBB cutting SNAP as fundamentally American. "The U.S. allegedly has no money to feed its children or the world’s children, but has plenty of money for war."
- For @teenvogue.com, I wrote about America’s favorite bipartisan pastime: starving people at home and abroad. As officials confirm what we already know, that there is a famine in Gaza, I hope we can all remember that none of this is unavoidable. It is a choice.

- Reposted by Dom KellyJuly is Disability Pride Month! In a recent episode of the Solidarity Is This podcast, our BMP colleague Adaku Utah spoke with Dom Kelly (@thetattooedjew.com) from @newdisabledsouth.org about lessons from disability justice movements:
- also y’all are talking about disabled, Black, other POC, and queer folks because our region has the most of all of those groups out of anywhere in the country.
- anybody who says people, particularly and especially children, in the South deserve to die because they’re in “red states” can get fucked.
- they tell you you don’t need to wear a mask or do anything to protect yourself from a disabling airborne disease, they “end the pandemic” which means back to work in the office, and then they cut a trillion dollars from medicaid. are you getting it now?
- It doesn’t have to be like this. We don’t have to die at the hands of corrupt politicians, billionaires, and wealthy corporations. We can build a different world. While we do that, we have to care for each other and help each other survive this. We’ve done it before. @newdisabledsouth.org

- Nobody working a full time job should be paid below $70,000 a year. Ideally, in the wealthiest country in the world, I don’t think anyone should make below $100,000 a year. It’s the billionaire class that has convinced us that the working class expects too much. That’s a lie. We all deserve more.
- And I also believe everyone should get guaranteed basic income. Regardless of whether or not they work. We can afford it and then some.
- For @mondoweiss.net, I wrote about how those claiming to do the work of disability rights and justice while staying silent on the genocide of Palestinians are actually doing no such thing.

- There is no disability justice without a free Palestine. You cannot claim to do the work of disability justice if you’re not fighting for Palestinian liberation.
- Peter Singer was honored by TIME on the TIME 100 Philanthropy list as an "innovator", and I dream of the day when we stop awarding eugenicists like Singer and start awarding those who are in the crosshairs of the attempt to erase disabled people but fight back against it with everything they have.
