- It is much more helpful to imagine America as a kind of Babylon and not a kind of Israel. We pray for Babylon. We work for the peace of Babylon. We participate in the general life of Babylon but we recognize that Babylon is not our homeland. It’s not our source of identity, purpose, or meaning.
