- For years I thought that with any minimum amount of data complexity, a website needed a database backend. The last 2 years with @astro.build has been eye opening for me in how far you can go with a flat, static websites that don't need any form of database whatsoever.

- Genuinely delighted to download a PhD thesis from a university repository where the author has neglected to remove the words "BITCH THIS IS YOUR THESIS" from the filename.
- The 1.4 release of @duckdb.org supports using a DuckDB database to serve vector tiles! Of course, I had to try this out in R. Check it out: all 242,000 US Census block groups dynamically served as vector tiles from a DuckDB database, displayed on a MapLibre map from R in Positron.

- Weird ggplot thing that got me this week with the update to 4.0 - it supports new ink and paper arguments (www.tidyverse.org/blog/2025/09... ) and they've changed how transparency works! If you a transparent bg, you can control it with theme_*() now #rstats
