- Severe G4 geomagnetic storm produced rare aurora displays across the UK, USA, Canada, and Europe on January 19-20. The X-class solar flare created the largest solar radiation storm in over 20 years, with lights visible as far south as Alabama and northern Italy.
- I sincerely doubt that aurora was seen in Alabama (latitude 32°). We barely saw it here in Colorado, at 40°. The radiation storm was no joke, though.
