  Bolli et al. develop a classifier that rescues neutrophils typically lost in scRNA-seq data, enabling unified pan-cancer analyses. This approach identifies CCL3hi aged tumor-associated neutrophils conserved across human and mouse cancers. Mechanistic perturbations show that neutrophil-derived CCL3 drives their CCR1-dependent survival in hypoxic niches, thereby promoting tumor progression.

They report that YAP1 regulates CD276 expression, and immune checkpoint molecules are expressed in a sex-biased manner in cancer cells. They highlight the biological sex as a critical modulator of tumor:immune interactions and immunotherapy response.
