- Portland over Gonzaga turned into not only the upset of the year in D-I, but is the biggest upset across all three NCAA divisions so far this year. (Using David Rothman's classic formula.)

- To all the people who were making fun of students having a tough time getting to class last week, these are the sidewalks in my apartment complex *this morning.*

- As a UAHuntsville grad it will never ever surprise me that Christy and especially Spencer continue to be a part of things like this.

- It is Wednesday afternoon and you are driving around still with ten inches of snow on the roof of your car? My response:
- Reposted by Cody KirkpatrickToday is "Large boulder the size of a small boulder" day!
- Went off-route and stopped at the car wash. 🤣 (There was a car that had skidded and was blocking the road; expert turning around by our driver. Yes he called it in.)

- Thinking about the colleagues today who are doing full-length Zoom classes with expectation that every student be completely present. Without much thought about where they live, have good internet, have carer responsibilities, ... Just "let's pivot to online" and bash through more content.
- Since 2000, we've had five 2-day snowfall events of 10 inches or more here in Bloomington. 12/23/2004 - 18.0 12/15/2000 - 13.0 This event - 12-or-maybe-even-13 01/28/2009 - 11.0 02/24/2003 - 10.3 Honorable mention (since I had just started here, and lived this one) 12/27/2012 - 9.4
- Yep, and that clearing is why tonight's low temperature will be somewhere around -4 to -6°F. Be very, very careful if you've got to go outside for anything tonight/tomorrow morning.
- Snowfall totals for Indiana and vicinity. All the reports I've seen here around town are in the 10-12" range, placing us firmly in the light orange. Multiple reports over by Columbus & Greensburg higher than 12, hence the dark orange there.
- One of the last bands of heavier snow is incoming to Bloomington in the next couple hours (locate the "BMG" on the map if you aren't sure where we are). We'll add that to the 10-12 inch totals I've heard about around town, and that will be almost it.
- Road conditions about 2:30 pm, on one of the main roads out to the interstate:

- Yes, a rather surprising snow-water equivalent here in our part of Indiana. Largely explains why we've had "only" 10 inches and not caught up with those maps of 14+ that people were sharing a few days ago.
- Well that is 10 inches of snow in Bloomington as of 9 am this morning. With snow continuing today. Likely will end up with 12, depending on how much the bottom layer starts to compact under the weight.
- Glad to see this decision in advance. I told the manager of [favorite lunch spot] today around noon, "Look, you'll lose money if you're open tomorrow."
- This first 20 minutes of fine snow has made the steps and sidewalk at work *very* slippery. Would not be surprised to see road conditions get worse very quickly, even with just the first inch this afternoon/evening.
- The clock is ticking in Indiana, as we’re now squarely under the ”donut hole” on radar. Will start seeing a few snowflakes within a couple hours. Sublimation will continue until humidity improves.
- Not much else to say for our local weather. Ice storm developing a couple states to our south, and an NWS forecast of 8-11 inches of snow here. Flurries starting after lunch, roads getting slick by this evening. The worst of the snow comes Sunday. Going to be a *lot* of Monday morning closures.
- Took the afternoon off, so doing a little work tonight to make up for it... the campus fall '25 grade reports are done so it's time to get those into our departmental "data dashboard." (I find this very fun, for the record.)
- Totally agree with this and weather folks will appreciate: a cool example of this was after April 27, 2011, about 25 people named "Phil Campbell" went to Alabama and helped that town with tornado cleanup and recovery. (They made a documentary about it!)
- Sitting in the bus station opinion: impacts, not accumulations. Any total 4-6ish, our side roads & country roads will probably be “okay / passable at best” by Monday morning. And 7+, more like “barely passable or even impassable.” High-end event of 12? You can extrapolate.
- Every entrance and exit to the Krogucci parking lot is 6-7 cars long right now. Let’s enjoy our milk sandwiches this weekend, everyone.
- Not really sure what this receipt number is… 😆
- Winter Storm Warning, 7 to 10 inches of snow over the weekend, beginning in the early afternoon on Sat. (12-3 pm), lasting through Sunday. Subzero wind chills Sat. afternoon. Please think very carefully about whether it's worth being out and about as snow starts & roads slick up tomorrow afternoon.
- We should probably expect our winter storm *watch* to become a *warning* at some point tomorrow. If that happens, you treat it the same way you do a tornado warning, a flood warning, a heat index warning, whatever. You take the urgent actions that ensure you stay safe. (In this case: staying home.)

- Just saw my dean walking down the sidewalk and although the pleasantries mean I know that he recognized my face, he seemed quite puzzled when I closed with “Stay warm this weekend!” 😆
- The university has never asked any of its faculty meteorologists for input on any weather-related preparedness matter, so I will not speak for their decision-making process. What I do know: * Expect wind chills 0 to -10 F all day * Light flurries in morning * Main snow starting as early as 1-3 pm
