Business geniuses only recently coming around to the idea that platform exclusives are bad for everyone, including the platform that has the exclusive.
Trying to sell someone a $500 console (at a loss) seems stupid when you can sell the same software to everyone!

Yeah but no one else is Nintendo. Sony and MS don't have a Mario or a Zelda. They are the exception to every rule because they're better at it than everyone else
Oct 29, 2025 18:00my unpopular opinion is that Mario is what it is because of console exclusivity. Mario is the face of the brand -> we have to make sure Mario games are good -> good Mario game sells consoles -> Mario is the face of the brand etc
