- The article isn't as bad as the headline, it is worth noting. The author explicitly lays out good critiques of an "e-bike crackdown"
- Fascinating old blog post from over a decade ago about how NYC superseded state law to make blocking an unmarked crosswalk legal. The hostility towards pedestrians and deference to private car owners in the city with the lowest rate of car ownership nationwide is really remarkable.
- I don’t like that we have an untouchable class of people with extreme wealth who can just buy an institution they don’t like and do whatever they want to it. I don’t think it’s a good thing for society.
- Reposted by CarlI hope there are some politicians going to @thewaroncars.bsky.social talk tomorrow night in Toronto, a city where two die on the same day and it gets buried on page 9- that is how common it has become.

- One thing right wing propaganda relies on is ordinary people’s (understandable) ignorance about complicated bureaucratic processes. Which is what makes these videos by the mayor such an incredible tool!

- Reposted by CarlThe coolest Congresswoman there’s ever been.
- Reposted by CarlThere really seems to be a lot of kayfabe happening right now. Trump is pretending to de-escalate to placate Dems so they don't demand reform, and Dems are making up fake reforms so they can pretend like they made changes while they vote to fund DHS.
- Reposted by CarlThe full interview with Stella Carlson is worth your time. In particular, the part around 13:30, about how ordinary people feel abandoned by local and state officials, and are left doing what they can—not much—to show solidarity with their neighbors, knowing local authorities will not protect them.
- Watching cars speed down cleared streets while watching pedestrians scramble over three foot high snow banks or having to walk in the street to avoid uncleared walkways has the War on Cars part of my brain very activated

- Reposted by CarlThis is from the NYT masthead editorial about the murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti. The highlighted line invalidates not just the editorial, but the very idea of newspaper editorials crafted by the consensus of a board. Better to publish nothing at all than to publish a line like this.

- Reposted by CarlImmigration is a fake problem. We have politicians on the one hand who want to use immigrants as scapegoats for our real ones and politicians on the other who are too cowardly to stand against them and tell the truth. That is the entire situation. Until that changes, people will continue to die.
- Reposted by Carlwe actually need to band together and let the dems know we will never donate another cent or vote for the party again if a single member of the party votes to give a single cent to ice ever again
- Reposted by CarlA person just crashed their vehicle through check-in at DTW airport. But yeah, moral outrage online is reserved for a person in an ebike riding on the sidewalk, not systemic car violence that has plagued us for nearly a century.

- NYC has the bones to be an absolutely incredible biking city, but there are still far too many gaps in the protected/separated bike lane network for it to happen yet. Hope the Mamdani administration can get us there.
