- The Orion nebula and Running Man Nebula (Sony A7R5 + 300mm f2.8, with 1.4x teleconverter). My first attempt at guiding, so I was able to take some longer images. 1 hour in total, definitely a jump from my last attempt so I'm happy! @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social
- Out under the stars having fun with equatorial tracking 🌒
- Saw some issues with PayPal IPN (payment confirmation) timeouts today. These caused repeated OQRS confirmation emails, now handled more gracefully. Apologies to anyone affected (e.g. more than one OQRS receipt for the same checkout).

- I've added locator.clublog.org to Club Log. Using vector not PNG raster tiles for the first time. It seems really great (very sharp text on retina displays even if zoomed).

- From the same photo as the previous one, really digging into a weak signal. Time to get out with the camera and try again (if it ever stops raining) @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social What's in this picture?

- A more sophisticated attempt at stacking of the Orion nebula - greatly improved. I'm staggered at how much can be done with integrating frames. Hopefully, it will be clear and moonless in mid-January and I can see what the 'real' sky looks like..!
- Still figuring stuff out as I go, but here's my best Andromeda for now. It's a bit blighted by the moon being so bright, but what a beautiful stellar object 😍✨ Sony Alpha 7R5/200mm f2.8

- Well, I got my photo! NGC1980 (Orion and a little bit of The Running Man nebula, too). Just about in the shot is the horsehead nebula, but I will need to wait for darker skies for that. Happy new year everyone - have a wonderful 2026. So glad we can all share our hobbies here on Bluesky.
- I got an astrotracking camera mount as a gift - and it looks like it will be crisp and clear tonight! Fairly bright moon, but still keen to give it a go. Thinking of trying Andromeda or the Orion nebula. Any other suggestions? I'll use the Alpha 7R5 and maybe 70mm f2 or 200mm f2.8 lens

- The Club Log Gateway now has a Windows front-end UI, for anyone unfamiliar with CLI tools. If you're using N1MM, DXLog or Win-Test, the Club Log Gateway is the right way to do real-time uploads to Club Log!

- Implemented a feature I wanted to get to for a long time: separate heartbeats for the DX and the PC link to Club Log's real time livestreams. A little morse animation for good measure, too!

- Updated the Club Log gateway (the power tool for real time uploads, with edits/deletes and satellite link efficiency built in). Squashed some TCP deadlocks and also improved the debug mode to make failures easy to debug. Also sorted kHz/MHz units from N1MM clublog.freshdesk.com/support/solu...
- A spot of moonlight - indistinguishable from sunlight it seems to me. Except the stars give it away!
- Tried a simple light pollution filter. It claims to reduce wavelengths that give a muddy beige cast. I'd say the result ooks pretty good - the glow is from the nearest town. Handy when conditions and location are less than ideal, but about a stop darker than the lens 24mm/f1.4 500ISO 8s
