A Lahinch county councillor has called for clarity on the impact to short term letting operators in North and West Clare as changes to rent pressure zone laws come into force this summer. Through a notice of motion at the January meeting of Clare County Council, Councillor Bill Slattery (FG) requested the local authority provide its elected members with a detailed briefing on the impact of the current planning and rent pressure zone legislation for people who plan on operating a short term let for the 2026 tourist season.
