Bird news: It looks like my gentle robin friend has triumphantly ousted the aggressive male near his patch and stolen his mate! Suddenly they were happily staying near each other today, the other male nowhere to be seen, choices made! All is fair in love and war…I guess 😬😆
It will be his first chicks this year, and I’m so close to him I feel like they’re mine too! The backstory is; I found a nest of robin chicks at the base of a fern last year …
Whilst I can’t be sure this robin is one of them, I’m pretty confident. When they fledged he started hopping around the veg patch nearby with me, and would enjoy the worms I tossed him. Much to the chagrin of his protective mum! 😬
Feb 4, 2026 19:29Ever since he has been with me whenever I am in the garden, he eats out my hand and even waits for me at the front door sometimes! Family laugh as they say he follows me wherever I go when I’m gardening and perches on branches a few feet away. I often hear a lovely song 🤭
When I call his name he flies to the bird feeder with me 🤭. So blessed to have this special bond 🙏🐦
