aster’s starting city is gridania, but canon’s tweaked a little for her—the calamity badly injured her, and she spent a solid couple of years recovering there under the care of the conjurers’ guild. she has a rent-controlled apartment there close to the aetheryte, filled with lots of plants :D

Were they a Brass Blade or Wood Wailer? Do they have any close relationships with the guilds?
she’s chronically ill so her recovery was neither quick nor easy, but once she’d recovered some, she started helping out with the healing efforts by concocting potions and recovery items. eventually, e-sumi-yan tossed her a healing staff and told her she might as well learn some conjury too
Feb 5, 2026 22:33this also brought her into contact with lyse and papalymo much earlier; while it became obvious early on that she was suffering from the side effects of echo visions, papalymo was very hesitant about pushing her too hard, too quickly.
all in all, she loves living in gridania, but she’s constantly aware of baelsar’s wall not too far away, and has been planning an exit strategy for a while now. once there were reports of garlean soldiers spotted in the twelveswood, that’s when papalymo nudged her towards the scions
