I'm trying to give the new Wuthering Heights film the benefit of the doubt when it comes to costume design. Because I do think strict devotion to historical accuracy can crush artistic freedom. It can prevent a director from fully embracing their vision!

HOWEVER. I see a dress with a hoop skirt as an undergarment and I see the hoops through it???? I immediately distrust you. There are supposed to be enough petticoats to make the hoops invisible. If it's a purposeful decision then exaggerate it. Otherwise it looks like shit.
