- While teaching a course on Item Response Theory this semester, I created a Shiny app for visualizing some polytomous item response models: falkcarl.shinyapps.io/polytomous/ This is an initial draft, so comments/questions/suggestions are welcome! #Psychometrics #RShiny #IRT
- Includes: generalized partial credit model (3 parameterizations), partial credit model, rating scale model, graded response model. Supports toggling of visuals for item information and logistic "building blocks" for some models.

Apply by email with no specific deadline (see contact info at users.aalto.fi/~ave/)
- I'm now also looking for a postdoc with strong Bayesian background and interest in developing Bayesian cross-validation theory, methods and software. Apply by email with no specific deadline (see contact information at users.aalto.fi/~ave/). Others, please share
- FYI. The House of Commons committee where this went down also records the meetings: www.ourcommons.ca/Committees/e...
- If you are a Canadian scientist 🧪 alarmed by the unfair targeting of academics working on research related to EDI in the US ➡️ Turn your attention to our own House of Commons' Standing Committee on Science and Research and consider signing this open letter: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...

- I'm looking for a doctoral student with Bayesian background to work on Bayesian workflow and cross-validation (see my publication list users.aalto.fi/~ave/publica... for my recent work) at Aalto University. Apply through the ELLIS PhD program (dl October 31) ellis.eu/news/ellis-p...
- Reposted by Carl F. FalkWhen there is a random way to do something, there is a less random way that is better but requires more thought. In this case, regression models that make no sense don't belong in a multiverse analysis. An inferential regression without a causal justification is like an opinion without reasons.
- Great piece on the absurdity of brute force multiverse analyses. www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/...
- Anyone else using #shinylive with #rstats having trouble getting nice plotting packages like #ggplot2 or #plotly to work? Curious what work arounds there are. Many thanks! ( #shiny works fine)

- Y'all. I just got ChatGPT to do everything in R for this manuscript. I mean EVERYTHING. And it's all legit and reproducible. I'm shook. How are we mentoring our trainees in statistics now? Who needs to learn coding in R line by line, and who doesn't? scienceforeveryone.science/statistics-i...
- Would sure be funny to embed certain keyword combinations into assignments to mess with cheating students who then copy the questions into an LLM prompt.
- Does anyone else accidentally click on reactions to emails on #Outlook for Office 365? Why can I react to emails? 🎉

- Considering EBICglasso for network modeling, but have a lot of missing data? A recent paper (accepted at Multivariate Behavioral Research), osf.io/preprints/os... may help. The paper is a bit technical, so a new blog post focuses on software: www.psych.mcgill.ca/perpg/fac/fa... #rstats #quantpsych
