- Actually Star Trek isn't preachy *enough* come to think of it. We needed to have Patrick Stewart climb through the screen, grab us by the lapels, and scream "HOW MANY PEOPLE DOES IT TAKE BEFORE IT BECOMES WRONG?" whilst shaking vigorously, apparently.
- If you have not yet watched Babylon 5, the way events now are rhyming is prescient and uncomfortable. And seasons 2-4, in particular, are some of the best writing in television.
- Good. "But DHS isn't just ICE, it's also..." nope, wrong. DHS no longer serves any useful functions, the whole thing has been reassigned to repression. FEMA isn't even paying out to states. All DHS does is shooting, teargassing, facial recognition, and administrative warrants. Shut it down.
- The TSA was a solution in search of a problem; Secret Service belongs in Treasury; FEMA belongs elsewhere and should be paying out. ATF and DEA probably both belong under Justice. USCG with DoD if it isn’t.

- Jimmy Carter died more than a year ago.
- JOIN US: Saturday starting at 1:30 p.m. at Champaign Public Library, 200 West Green Street, for our general business meeting. All are welcome. HOW TO HELP: If you can/as you’re able, we encourage you to choose an organization from ww.standwithminnesota.com to donate to. #MinnesotaStrong -LM
- Mr Lukovich, you are still (IMO) one of the all-time greats of editorial cartooning. I’ve been seeing your work for 4 decades, and it always does exactly what an editorial cartooning should do. - Jeff
- Ultimately we've got to prosecute agents and officials who committed crimes, and we've got to dismantle DHS entirely and start over. But as a list of demands to reduce harm now? This is surprisingly good from Dem leadership. One big missing thing I don't see in this letter: funding levels?

- While I agree with your point, we ALSO have to understand that isn’t happening without a veto-proof majority in both chambers of Congress in 2027. (Also, it’s “break up DHS”, which was a solution in search of a problem and a bad idea.)
- I don't know when I last read something like the transcript out of Minnesota, so I spent the evening putting this together. www.lawdork.com/p/the-minnes...
- Bookmarking to read later this morning. Wondering if the Supreme Court ban on nationwide injunctions is party responsible for the flood of habeas petitions.
- Whether or not it has the effect you want, any action you take will have at least 3 consequences you didn’t foresee, one of them usually unpleasant.
- With the new Muppet Show special, Seth Rogen and company finally did the thing every Muppets fan has been asking for forever: They just made The Muppet Show again. My review:

- I guess my point is regardless of how it was presented, this was a great example of “start at the beginning, tell the story, and when you get to the end, stop.” More Mayhem is always great, but it might have been redundant.

- I don’t know if Muppets Mayhem was canceled so much as it told the story it needed to tell, and stopped.
- From the Editorial Board: Our choice among this crowded Democratic field, which includes many impressive people including political newcomers with diverse and fascinating resumes, is Laura Fine, 59, a state senator from Glenview.

- Ha ha. I was signing the post, which I tend to do when I want to be 100% clear I’m writing, and to stress the times I’m not purporting to speak on behalf of the chapter.
