Cats of Yore
Hi! I’m Molly Hodgdon. I live in Vermont with my beautiful FIV+ cats Francie and Marcel. Banner photo by W. Eugene Smith. Profile pic is a postcard from my collection mailed 1908.
Not a bot. Not selling anything. Just a keeper of forgotten cats.
- I deleted my previous posts about my harasser to protect the sanctuary, but I will not be using this bluesky account anymore if someone can threaten me here, via email, and on the phone without consequences. Bye for now.

- People are rude to me every day. People do not threaten me and the animal sanctuary I work for every day. Rudeness is not the issue here.

- Aw. Thank you the solidarity, Ralphie. ❤️

- Thank you! ❤️
- Ah, interesting! Not everyone is getting that view. How weird. Thanks for showing me!
- Oh wait, I think that might because you subscribe to a labeler by @asukafield.xyz?

- I don’t see any notice.
- Normally I do not purchase, post, or enjoy photos where props have been forced on cats, but I made an exception in this particular case for bluesky reasons. Postcard from my collection, mailed 1931.

- I'm so sorry. 💔
- Late night news flash from Francie:
- I love that #antiquesroadshow is trending. I very sincerely love that for us, bluesky. 🦋

- Hey parents or childcare workers or anyone else who might know: I'm looking for a set of modular climbing/play toys like this but made of durable hard plastic. Does anyone know of a brand that does this? All the ones I can find are soft and squishy materials. Asking for rescue animals.

- No, I was looking for a brand name.

- I mean we have donors who want to buy enrichment items as gifts for our animals, so I need to be able to send them a link to a product page where they can buy it.

- Whenever I post anything like this I brace for a lot of "paint me like one of your French girls".

- I need to be able to link to a specific item for donation.

- Not really. There are tons of hard plastic outdoor play sets for babies and toddlers, I was just having trouble finding this specific thing (and people were able to help me find it).

- Ah dang that looks so cool!

- People always say "my cat is weird" as if that isn't like saying "my water is wet".
- Engaging with a dangerous predator. Photo from my collection, writing on the back says “Hazel and Warnie”.

- Wonderful!!
- Toilet detective. Photo from my collection, the only info I have is that “Dodger” is written on the back.

- It's always such a pleasure to watch him, no matter how bad the movie is. Not saying Re-Animator is bad, of course, but I've seen some real stinkers just because he was in them and it's always worth it for the Combs joy.
- Always make time to stop and admire the peets. Photo from my collection, no date/info.
- Happy lap loaf. ❤️ I love that someone felt the need to capture this moment. Photo from my collection, no date/info.
- So proud to work for this incredible sanctuary. 🥹
- We made the front page of our town's newspaper! They published our press release about achieving GFAS accreditation! They got the photo captions a little mixed up but otherwise YAY! 🥳 www.charlottenewsvt.org/2026/01/08/f...

- I feel like maybe you didn't consult with Dottie before posting this.

- The thing that sealed it for us is that they are crash tested and proven safer than any other kind of carrier. We adopt cats with complicated health so we go back and forth to the vet a lot, knowing they are as safe as possible during trips was worth every cent.

- At our vet's office they write the names of all the patients of the day on a chalkboard, and I take a photo of it every time. I need to compile them all at some point.
- Tiny star! Photo from my collection, no date/info.

- omg we LOVE our sleepy pods. I never really recommend them to anyone because they freak about the admittedly high price but we would never use anything else.

- Oh my goodness that is a LUXURY KITTY. Our vet thinks Marcel's coat might get longer as he grows up because his body has been concentrating its energy on healing and survival for most of his life, now he has extra nutrients for coat health.

- I have this one, and they have a few of them at our vet's office, too. I got a cheap "open box" one 3 years ago and it has been great. www.amazon.com/Beurer-Toddl...

- Oh yes, and when we've had to bring the cats to the emergency vet it's very handy to know their weight so it can be compared to their weight at that moment. Otherwise they have no data point for comparison.

- I just use a baby scale like this: www.amazon.com/Beurer-Toddl...

- No, that's an urban legend. It's actually fine to give cigarettes to kittens at any age.

- P.S. It's a good idea to weigh your cats monthly if you can! Weight fluctuations are often an early indicator that something is wrong. Weekly is probably overkill but mine both have FIV so I am always fretting and want to pick up on any trends super early. animalwellnessmagazine.com/why-you-shou...
- I just use a baby scale like this: www.amazon.com/Beurer-Toddl...
- but if you have a very active cat or kitten you can also use a luggage scale to weigh them in their carrier and then subtract the carrier weight. www.amazon.com/travel-inspi...
